CubeHouse environmental permit open for consultation

For the development of CubeHouse, permission has been granted to deviate from the zoning plan currently in force. A permit was issued on 5 April 2023 and is now open for consultation for six weeks. The application for planning permission will now also be submitted swiftly.

Zuidas Residents’ Platform discontinued after 25 years

The Zuidas Residents’ Platform, the umbrella organisation for residents and special interest groups, is closing down after 25 years. We talked to its committee about constructive engagement, focusing on the positives and the simplicity of a liveable neighbourhood. ‘We can always still take to the barricades.’

120 concrete trucks on Parnassusweg cycle path and footpath

Cyclists and pedestrians using Parnassusweg on 12 April 2023 will need to watch out. They can expect significant disruption next to Amsterdam Zuid station caused by trucks transporting concrete. During the morning rush hour, we also planned to inject a little fun into the process.

Sustainable redevelopment of EDGE Stadium completed

After two years of construction work, EDGE Stadium, located on the corner of Amstelveenseweg and Fred. Roeskestraat has been completed. The key aim of this redevelopment was to improve sustainability. The updated design has resulted in a stunningly attractive office building.

Following a successful 18-month trial period, there’s good news: Zuidas Market is here to stay. From 9.00 until 17.00 every Thursday, Gershwinplein is the place to go for your groceries and delicatessen. Or simply to enjoy the atmosphere and have a chat.

The Newton is being revealed step by step

Although construction work on The Newton started heading upwards from the start of 2021, after reaching its highest point on 10 March 2023, the builders are now working their way downwards. Floor by floor, the scaffolding is being dismantled and the finishing touches put to the façade.

Minervabrug: bridge closed for three months for repairs

Starting on 3 April, the bridge for cyclists and pedestrians that connects Zuidas with the Zuid city district will be closed for a three-month period. The Minervabrug is in poor condition and will be repaired. Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to cross the Zuider Amstelkanaal in Beethovenstraat.

Space is required in order to build safely. But space is in short supply in the Zuidas area. Despite this, we are hoisting and lifting long and heavy objects on a daily basis, such as sheet piles, foundation piles and façade elements. So, how do we ensure that the public stays safe?

5 April: meeting about the Beethoven neighbourhood

All kinds of things are set to happen on the edge of Beatrixpark in the years ahead. They include the construction of around 300 homes. There are also tentative plans to house Ukrainian refugees in Kapel & Convict. We will brief you on all of that at the Sint Nicolaaslyceum school on 5 April 2023.

Work on new Amsterdam Zuid station in April

In April, we are continuing our work on the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. We will be inserting sheet piles into the ground and pouring concrete for the fifth roof section of the additional passenger tunnel, the Brittenpassage.
