Working together on a vibrant Kenniskwartier

Kenniskwartier (Knowledge District) is developing fast. VU Campus is being regenerated, around 2,700 homes are set to be built and there are new amenities and green areas under development along with a thriving centre for research and education. All of this in what will soon be an amazingly accessible location.

Rapid rise of The Pulse is all thanks to prefab

In the space of 18 months, The Pulse of Amsterdam has been transformed from a construction pit to an eyecatcher in the making. Alongside the A10, the two towers in this megaproject have shot out of the ground like mushrooms. Time for an update on construction progress.

The Pulse is being built using mineral strips and plastic bottles

The biggest building plot in the Kenniskwartier (Knowledge District) neighbourhood is currently a hive of activity. Anyone regularly passing by in the train or car will have seen The Pulse of Amsterdam gradually increasing in height. It consists of two connecting towers, both of which will ultimately be around 90 metres tall, each with its own distinct signature.

Tons of steel bars for The Pulse

Since the summer of 2021, the Kenniskwartier (or ‘Knowledge District’) has been building what should become the centrepiece of this new neighbourhood: The Pulse of Amsterdam. There’s not much to see at street level at the moment, but the contractors are already putting the finishing touches to the foundations below the ground.

Work starts on multifunctional building The Pulse

Construction work has started on The Pulse, yet another incredible eyecatcher in Zuidas. Boasting housing, offices, a cinema, bars and restaurants, the building embodies what the Innovation Quarter (‘Kenniskwartier’) is set to become: a vibrant part of Zuidas and Amsterdam.

This will amount to about 10,000 homes in total, considerably more than the 7,000 envisaged in the Zuidas Vision (Visie Zuidas). We are building them for all the people of Amsterdam.

An urban biotope in Zuidas, with homes, offices and a cinema

A building that combines living and working with public facilities such as a cinema, bowling alley and cafés and restaurants. That is the concept of VORM Ontwikkeling for a new building on the site between the A10 and the sports fields of SC Buitenveldert.
