Social (senior citizens’) housing in Fred. Roeskestraat

On the former site of the British School of Amsterdam, housing association Eigen Haard is set to develop two separate buildings that will provide both social housing and homes for the elderly. An information evening was held on 28 September to update the local neighbourhood.

Sustainable redevelopment of EDGE Stadium completed

After two years of construction work, EDGE Stadium, located on the corner of Amstelveenseweg and Fred. Roeskestraat has been completed. The key aim of this redevelopment was to improve sustainability. The updated design has resulted in a stunningly attractive office building.

180 more social rental homes to be built in Zuidas

By 2026, two energy-neutral residential buildings will be standing on the spot where the British School of Amsterdam used to be located until 2021. Together, they will provide 180 social rental and senior housing units. Construction work will begin in Fred. Roeskestraat at the end of 2024.

EDGE Stadium’s new atrium steals the show

The completion of EDGE Stadium, the former headquarters of Loyens & Loeff on Fred. Roeskestraat is nearly here. The stand-out feature is the newly renovated atrium. ‘After two years of work, it’s really something to see it all coming together.’

Experience Open Monuments Day in Zuidas

On 10 and 11 September 2022, thousands of monuments across the Netherlands will be opening their doors on Open Monuments Day (Open Monumentendag). In Zuidas, you can visit the monumental courthouse, the Burgerweeshuis (a former orphanage) or the Thomaskerk Church. The Zuidas Botanical Garden is also participating.

British School site brings generations together

There are plans to build social rented housing on the former site of the British School Amsterdam (BSA) in Fred. Roeskestraat. Since this will take a while, we have temporarily relandscaped the area, making it a lot greener. Pupils from the Geert Groote College nearby could not be happier.

Copper heart glistens behind the glass of EDGE Stadium

The new exterior of EDGE Stadium, former headquarters of Loyens & Loeff, is more or less complete. As a result, the characteristic copper heart of the building in Fred. Roeskestraat is suddenly behind a transparent façade.

Former British School makes way for housing

The former main building of the Amsterdam British School in Fred. Roeskestraat is being demolished. The school moved to new accommodation in Havenstraat last year. The location will now be used for social housing.

New floors on EDGE Stadium

After a year of construction, the steel structure of EDGE Stadium – the former headquarters of Loyens & Loeff – is now as solid as a rock. This means that the finishing work on the new floors can now start, a key part of the building’s upgrade.

6 October: meeting about site formerly occupied by British School

The British School has now left Fred. Roeskestraat. The vacant building will now make way for about 150 to 200 social rental homes. On 6 October 2021 at 19.30, we are holding an online meeting to update you on progress.

British School makes way for housing

In April, the British School of Amsterdam (BSA) relocated from Fred. Roeskestraat to a new building in Havenstraat. We have been planning to build homes on the site in Fred. Roeskestraat vacated by the school for a long time. On 23 June this year, we had talks with the local community about this.

Warnersblokken apartments inspired by ‘servants’ issue’

The Warnersblokken apartments will be familiar to anyone who cycles through the Prinses Irenebuurt. They are the four eye-catching and colourful housing blocks at the end of Fred. Roeskestraat. In order to properly understand this national monument, we need to look to another neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Slotermeer.
