New birch, oak and Prunus trees for Amaliaplein

The week of 13 March 2023 saw the removal and addition of oak, birch and Prunus trees in Amaliaplein. The high groundwater level has caused the death of eight trees which we are now in the process of replacing. All of the new trees will be planted on Friday, 17 March.

First floors of WTC Tower Ten complete

After almost four years of construction, the first floors of Tower Ten – the new World Trade Center tower – are now complete. We joined contractor Ballast Nedam to take a look. 'Behind that stunning façade, lies an awful lot of blood, sweat and tears.'

Temporary construction route between Prinses Irenestraat and Parnassusweg

For construction traffic, we are building a temporary connection between Prinses Irenestraat and Parnassusweg. This is in order to prevent the need for construction traffic for the P159 project passing through the neighbourhood. We will be building the site access road between 19 and 27 February 2022.

Rietveld students create art in INNSiDE hotel

The brand new INNSiDE hotel by Meliá has made around 20 rooms available as artists’ studios for students of the nearby Gerrit Rietveld Academie. They are working there on art that will soon take pride of place in the hotel.

Seventy drain covers to be replaced on Zuidplein

From 26 October until 30 November 2020, we are replacing 70 drain covers on Zuidplein. The reason: during heavy rainfall, the water does not drain properly.

INNSiDE Hotel in 2Amsterdam opens 10 December

On 10 December 2020, the INNSiDE Hotel is opening a new four-star hotel in one of the two towers of 2Amsterdam. It will be the Spanish hotel chain Meliá's first hotel in the Netherlands. General manager Sjoerd Sybesma took us for a guided tour.

Conversion of former office building in Prinses Irenestraat

A former office building on Prinses Irenestraat, built in the 1970s, is to undergo renovation. It was one of the first buildings to be built in Zuidas. The current occupant, the Amsterdam International Community School (AICS), will be relocating to new premises.
