Hybrid wooden CubeHouse rises despite lack of space
Around a year after work started on it, construction of The CubeHouse is suddenly gathering pace. Above the plinth, we recently gained an initial glimpse of what makes this building so special: its wooden structure.
Dismantling of Circl pavilion starts
On Monday, 13 May 2024, work will start on the dismantling of the Circl pavilion in Gustav Mahlerplein. It is the first stage in the renovation of the whole ABN AMRO complex. Pedestrians will experience some minor disruption over a nine-month period.
Philips headquarters nears completion

The completion of PI59, in Prinses Irenestraat, is in sight. In less than two years, the contractor has transformed the building from a brutalist bunker to an ultramodern Philips headquarters. It is a truly amazing transformation.

Between PI59, formerly home to the Amsterdam International Community School (AICS), and the law firm Freshfields, we have plans to create a pocket park. We are eager to do this in consultation with the local neighbourhood. Will you contribute your ideas?
Tripolis-Park set for completion
Tripolis-Park is approaching completion after almost three years. Uber, its main tenant, will soon be moving into one of the three towers and part of the new building – the ‘horizontal’ skyscraper, dubbed a ‘landscraper’. Law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek will follow at the end of 2023.
VU’s new Research Building now windtight and watertight
The exterior walls of Vrije Universiteit’s new Research Building are now windtight and watertight. The structure along the side of the building which protects cyclists and pedestrians from any falling building materials can now also be removed. Work will also begin on fitting out the laboratories inside the building.
Pleasant area around WTC’s Tower Ten
WTC’s Tower Ten has now reached such an advanced stage that the contractor is set to hand back the public space to the City of Amsterdam in May. So, what plans do we have for it? We will be adding a range of planting, widening the cycle path and making it an attractive place in which to spend time. We present an initial impression below.
From jungle to design roof garden on the ITO tower
Many of the roofs in Zuidas are not accessible to the public, which is a shame. From the street, for example, there is no way of knowing that a beautiful new garden has been created on top of the ITO tower in Mahlerplein. We were permitted to take a look around.
