In the picture: four months of construction work on the Brittenpassage

The second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station is beginning to take shape. In the space of four months, we have removed huge amounts of sand from underneath the A10, railway and metro tracks and the broad contours of the new passageway are now becoming visible. In this series of photos, we take a look back.

Underneath the roof of the additional passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station, we are doing much more than just digging. Alexander Bor from the Nieuw-Zuid Construction Consortium tells us all about it. ‘By the start of 2024, the southern side of the Brittenpassage will have reached the right depth.’

On 15 November 2023, we are organising two walk-in meetings at the Zuid City Office for residents, businesses and others stakeholders interested in the future regeneration of the Amstel interchange by Zuidasdok. You are warmly welcome to attend.

Sheet piling work in Van Beinumstraat postponed

Today was supposed to see the start of work installing sheet piling into the ground in Eduard van Beinumstraat. However, these works have now been postponed until further notice as a result of a setback.

One metro track closed due to minor subsidence

UPDATE 21 October, 13.00: Since early afternoon on 21 October, the 50 and 51 metro service from Amsterdam Zuid station in the direction of Amsterdam Central Station and Gein has resumed. We are now permanently monitoring the situation.

First visitors to Brittenpassage can hardly believe their eyes

The big day finally arrived on 11 October 2023. For the first time ever, interested parties had an opportunity to take a walk through the future Brittenpassage, the additional passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station. Here’s an impression of what they saw.

Avoid having your bike removed

Do you regularly travel to Amsterdam Zuid station by bike? If you do, we have important news. Any bikes left around the station that are not parked in a designated spot, cycle rack or one of the (underground) bicycle parks can be removed.
