Construction work on entrances to new railway platforms
With the roof of the new Brittenpassage now more or less complete, we are rapidly moving onto the next milestone. Attention is now fully focused on building the walls where the stairways/escalators and lifts leading to the future railway platforms will be located.
New sensors to measure crowds around station
From 19 September 2024, we will be placing sensors in the streets around Amsterdam Zuid station to measure the flow of cyclists and pedestrians. We will use the data we collect to keep the area around the station safe during future work activities.
Closure of Arnold Schönberglaan for groundworks
From 9 September 2024 until April 2025, we are closing Arnold Schönberglaan. We are installing cables and pipelines for the new passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station. The shared transport hub in this street will disappear.
Cycle path in Parnassusweg to close two days earlier
The works we are carrying out above Parnassusweg are having more of an impact on road users than expected. For safety reasons, we are closing the cycle path and footpath starting on Thursday, 11 July 2024, instead of Saturday, 13 July.
Closure of Parnassusweg and station entrance in Zuidplein
As part of the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station, the northern station entrance (Zuidplein) will be closed three times this summer. Parnassusweg will be (partially) closed for one week. There will also be increased disruption around the station.
6 July: reduced metro services to enable sheet-pile work
On Saturday, 6 July 2024, there will be no metros running between Amsterdam Zuid station and Amstelveenseweg. We will be inserting sheet piling into the ground close to the metro tracks. A shuttle bus service will run between the two metro stations.
Ask&GO provides travel advice during A10 Zuid closures
Between the end of June and mid-December 2024, the A10 Zuid and/or A4 will be closed during eight weekends. This will cause serious traffic disruption and increased journey times. If you (already) need travel advice, you can consult Ask&GO. Or, you can sign up for free alerts.
Preparations for summer work at Amsterdam Zuid set to start
From 13 May 2024, preparations will start at Amsterdam Zuid station for the major works scheduled for this summer. They will cause some disruption in the existing station entrance, the Minervapassage. This will include the disappearance of one of the metro access gates.
Eye to eye with the entryway to the Brittenpassage
The definitive entryways to the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, the Brittenpassage, will not be in place until 2036. But when it opens in 2027, they will already be clearly recognisable, as a life-sized impression of the southern entrance shows.
Ground monitoring crucial when working under the rails
The renovation work at Amsterdam Zuid station involves working on and in a dike that is largely made of sand. Could the construction of the new Brittenpassage have an effect on that dike? The construction manager and a ground specialist explain.
Two nights of lifting work in Parnassusweg
In the two nights from Monday 30 October to Wednesday, 1 November, we will be working on the metro viaduct above Parnassusweg. We are doing this at night for safety reasons.
Limited access at Amsterdam Zuid station for two weekends
In the weekends of 9-10 and 23-24 September 2023, there will be disruption for travellers wishing to access the metro or railway from Zuidplein. The station entrance will be closed for up to 10 minutes on a regular basis (every two hours). There will also be noise disruption.
