In the two nights from Monday 30 October to Wednesday, 1 November, we will be working on the metro viaduct above Parnassusweg. We are doing this at night for safety reasons.
From 3 to 5 November 2023, Amstelveenseweg will be closed in the Amstelveen direction between De Boelelaan and Van Nijenrodeweg. We are making changes to the entrance to the emergency department at Amsterdam UMC-VUmc location in order to improve traffic safety.
Today was supposed to see the start of work installing sheet piling into the ground in Eduard van Beinumstraat. However, these works have now been postponed until further notice as a result of a setback.
UPDATE 21 October, 13.00: Since early afternoon on 21 October, the 50 and 51 metro service from Amsterdam Zuid station in the direction of Amsterdam Central Station and Gein has resumed. We are now permanently monitoring the situation.
From 16 October 2023 until Christmas, part of Eduard van Beinumstraat (next to Wagamama restaurant) will be transformed temporarily into a construction site. We are clearing the area underground to enable the construction of the northern motorway tunnel.
Starting on 9 October, we will be removing the cycle path that leads from Beethovenstraat, between the Stibbe and AkzoNobel offices, to Beatrixpark. It runs diagonally across the site on which we will be building housing in the years ahead.
After years of construction away from public view, the digging has started for the passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station: the Brittenpassage. We are removing 50,000 cubic metres of sand from underneath the A10, metro and railway tracks. And the site is spectacular to behold.

The Nieuw-Zuid construction consortium (Mobilis, Boskalis, Van Gelder) has officially been given the go-ahead for the next phase of the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. This will involve widening and raising the height of the existing station passageway (the Minervapassage) and making modifications to the railway platforms.
On the site of the former temporary courthouse at Fred. Roeskestraat 55, there are plans to develop a building with offices and housing. The draft zoning plan for this development is now open for consultation until 18 October 2023. A walk-in evening has been scheduled for 21 September.
