From 5 to 17 June 2023, we are digging test trenches at different locations in Prinses Irenestraat. Our aim is to map out the underground cables and pipelines. Car traffic will be diverted and we expect some noise nuisance.
Between 1 and 11 May 2023, trees are being planted in Buitenveldertselaan. The street was recently resurfaced and 34 plane trees are being planted where two tram stops used to be. Only car traffic will be affected by (limited) disruption.
Work has been ongoing on Buitenveldertselaan since the beginning of April 2022. This work includes repaving the pedestrian and bicycle paths, resurfacing the road and replacing the gas pipes and sewers. The work will last until the end of May 2023.
For construction traffic, we are building a temporary connection between Prinses Irenestraat and Parnassusweg. This is in order to prevent the need for construction traffic for the P159 project passing through the neighbourhood. We will be building the site access road between 19 and 27 February 2022.
In truth, the work on the pavement and cycle path around RAI metro and railway station is not particularly complicated. ‘But it’s actually the final part of the work being done in this area’, explains Project Manager Hanno de Groot.
Good progress is being made on the new green landscaping in Prinses Irenestraat. Work on the introduction of the ‘water-retardant green strip’ is in full swing. New street paving will be laid starting on Saturday, 6 April, followed by some final work.
