2023: the year of shifting and digging

The broad contours of the second passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station became visible. The existing passageway was also renovated. Numerous construction projects were completed. We also put together a great summer party. All of that – and much more – was 2023 in Zuidas.

How do you build safely in a metropolitan area?

Space is required in order to build safely. But space is in short supply in the Zuidas area. Despite this, we are hoisting and lifting long and heavy objects on a daily basis, such as sheet piles, foundation piles and façade elements. So, how do we ensure that the public stays safe?

The invisible heart of Zuidas

Less digging, reduced noise nuisance and public spaces of the highest quality. This was the rationale behind the construction, in 2005, of the integrated cable and pipeline tunnel (‘integrale leidingentunnel’ or ILT). This gigantic cable trench, half a kilometre in length, now has a new municipal manager.
