Preliminary design for Beatrixpark site now ready

The area between Kapel & Convict and the AkzoNobel and Stibbe buildings and the St. Nicolaaslyceum will be given a new layout in the next few years. The preliminary design for the public area is now ready. It is set to be green and park-like.

Playground equipment in Beatrixpark to be removed

Between 19 and 23 February 2024, we will be removing the Carve playground equipment from Beatrixpark. It was becoming less of a source of fun and enjoyment and an increasing cause of nuisance. Zuid city district is now considering what will replace it. You are welcome to contribute any ideas you may have.

Two slender residential towers next to Beatrix Park

Two residential towers with a total of 196 apartments will be built on one of the two sites available next to Beatrix Park. Real estate developer Breevast presented their plans for this location to local residents in January 2022.

Rising construction costs put paid to Conservatorium

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam music academy will not be setting up an annex in the monumental buildings known as Kapel & Convict in Beatrixpark after all. Prices on the construction and energy markets have increased so explosively that the financial risks are too great.

Progress update on works in Beethoven neighbourhood

In the Beethoven neighbourhood, where a section of Beethovenstraat and part of Beatrixpark are located, housing is set to be built and an annex of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam is also being developed. Progress on both of these projects has turned out to be slightly different from our earlier reports.

Eleven plane trees return home to Valley

Since September 2020, 11 plane trees, 12 metres in height, have been lodging temporarily at Van der Valk. Now, their stay there is over and on 10 April 2021, they relocated back to their home base at Valley in Beethovenstraat.

Thirteen trees to be removed from A10 embankment near Beatrixpark

In the week of 1 March 2021, we will fell 13 trees along the A10 motorway near Beatrixpark. The trees were going to be felled anyway due to the Zuidasdok project. They are being removed now because we will be creating a site access road for the residential buildings planned nearby.

Tree-felling to make way for Conservatorium and The Pulse

We are cutting down trees in two places in Zuidas. In order to provide space for the Conservatorium van Amsterdam music academy in Kapel & Convict, fifteen trees need to be felled. We will also be removing fifteen trees along the A10 in order to build The Pulse.

In order to adapt the Kapel & Convict grounds to meet the needs of its future occupant, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam music academy, we need to cut down 15 trees that have only limited future prospects. They will be replaced by 26 new trees.
