On 12 March 2024, more than 150 people visited the market in the Zuidas-Zuidasdok Information Centre. Alongside many familiar faces, there were also quite a lot of new ones. People with specific questions and people with a general interest in Zuidas and Zuidasdok.
Between 7 July and 26 August 2024, the metros at Amsterdam Zuid station will run a modified service. Metros 50 and 51 will be using a single track instead of two, in both directions. The GVB's Ger Walstra tells us about it.

Kenniskwartier (Knowledge District) is developing fast. VU Campus is being regenerated, around 2,700 homes are set to be built and there are new amenities and green areas under development along with a thriving centre for research and education. All of this in what will soon be an amazingly accessible location.
The City of Amsterdam Executive is opting for a new approach to city development. Densification will feature prominently in it, including in Zuidas. This is revealed in the development strategy ‘Building neighbourhoods for the future’ (‘Bouwen aan buurten van de Toekomst’) that is based on diversity in the city.
Plans for Kop Zuidas to have a residential care centre for former homeless people on plot K will not go ahead. For the centre to be affordable, at least 30 housing units were needed. There is not sufficient space for that. The tender procedure for the plot will be in the second quarter of 2024.
The broad contours of the second passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station became visible. The existing passageway was also renovated. Numerous construction projects were completed. We also put together a great summer party. All of that – and much more – was 2023 in Zuidas.
In the night of Thursday, 23 and Friday, 24 November, two carriageways will be closed on the A10 In the direction of A4 Schiphol. No diversion will be necessary. During the works, traffic will use a single carriageway.
Zuidas is working on plans for the Verdi neighbourhood, part of which includes the northern zone of IJsbaanpad. This is being given a new use. From 9 November 2023, the draft zoning plan that will make this development possible is open for consultation.
Starting in 2024, Zuidas intends to begin working with a general permit (‘koepelvergunning’) to cover all works related to water. This general permit will make it possible to gain permission for a large number of water-related works in the whole of the Zuidas area all at once.
In Zuidas, we are building quite a lot of construction pits, often surrounded by steel sheet pile walls. But not all these walls are the same. The method used to drive a sheet pile into the ground can also vary according to the location. We take a look at how it all works.
