Environmental plan for 'Residential tower plot 4 Vivaldi' open for consultation
On the corner of Barbara Strozzilaan/Antonio Vivaldistraat, there are plans for a residential tower with housing in the affordable segment and private sector. From 4 December until 14 January 2026, the required changes to the environmental plan are open for consultation.
Residential tower in Vivaldi neighbourhood under preparation
On the corner of Barbara Strozzilaan and Antonio Vivaldistraa, there is currently still a car park. There are plans to build a residential tower on the site, with a mixture of private and affordable housing. Before that can happen, we will need to revise the environmental plan.
Participation starts on ABN AMRO complex future plan
In the coming years, the ABN AMRO complex at Mahlerlaan 10 is to be (re-)developed into a lively and accessible area for housing, leisure and employment. This requires a change to the Environmental Plan ('Omgevingsplan') and the participation process about it will soon be starting.
Environmental permit for Het Duet open for consultation
The environmental permit for the construction of Het Duet in Fred. Roeskestraat was granted on 16 May 2025. The permit for the construction of 177 social rental apartments Is now open for consultation for six weeks.
DUWO student housing environmental permit open for consultation
The DUWO housing association has been granted an environmental permit for the construction of 126 student flats in the Kenniskwartier innovation district. Until Saturday, 10 May 2025, anyone can ask questions about it and lodge objections.
Plans for Habitat Royale housing project halted
In consultation with the City of Amsterdam, the property developer KonderWessels Vastgoed (KWV) has decided to halt its plans to develop the Habitat Royale residential building on the edge of Beatrixpark.
Planned 24-hour shelter in Kop Zuidas scrapped
Plans for Kop Zuidas to have a residential care centre for former homeless people on plot K will not go ahead. For the centre to be affordable, at least 30 housing units were needed. There is not sufficient space for that. The tender procedure for the plot will be in the second quarter of 2024.
2023: the year of shifting and digging
The broad contours of the second passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station became visible. The existing passageway was also renovated. Numerous construction projects were completed. We also put together a great summer party. All of that – and much more – was 2023 in Zuidas.
Ukrainian refugee accommodation delayed by three months
The accommodation of around 100 Ukrainian refugees in Kapel & Convict will not begin until April 2024, three months later than planned. Because the location is part of the so-called Main Green Space Infrastructure ('Hoofdgroenstructuur'), the renovation work required explicit approval from Amsterdam City Council.
Consultation opens on draft zoning plan for Fred. Roeskestraat 55
On the site of the former temporary courthouse at Fred. Roeskestraat 55, there are plans to develop a building with offices and housing. The draft zoning plan for this development is now open for consultation until 18 October 2023. A walk-in evening has been scheduled for 21 September.
3 July: meeting to discuss works in Prinses Irenebuurt area
A lot of construction work is taking place between Amsterdam Zuid station and Prinses Irenestraat. In the upcoming period, there will also be works in and around the station. On 3 July 2023, we are organising a walk-in meeting at the Thomaskerk to update you on what is happening.
Sporthallen Zuid set to stay, no housing construction
The relocation of the Sporthallen Zuid sports complex will not be happening after all. The complex will be refurbished and extended on its current site, as the 2023 Spring Memorandum (‘Voorjaarsnota 2023’) reveals. This puts an end to the planned construction of 550 homes in that area.
