On Friday, 20 November work was completed on a safer and greener Wielingenstraat. All the street paving has been replaced and there is a separate cycle path on both sides. There is also a wide, green central reservation.
By the end of May, the major maintenance next to the housing in Wielingstraat will be complete. From 29 May until the start of October, it will be the turn of the other side (alongside the RAI). The result will be a safe and green Wielingenstraat.
For the last few months, we have been working on safer and greener design for Wielingenstraat. Work came to a temporary halt during the Christmas holidays, but will resume on 9 January 2023, with major maintenance work being completed by September 2023.
Wielingenstraat will be completely closed to vehicle traffic in both directions for two days, starting on Friday 4 November at 19.00. Waternet will be working on the sewers near Krammerstraat during that period. Cyclists and pedestrians will not experience any additional disruption.
On Monday, 19 September 2022, we are embarking on major maintenance work in Wielingenstraat. This street, located next to the RAI, is being made safer and greener. Work on the street is expected to take a year.

The design of the upgraded Wielingenstraat is now definitive. With a separate cycle path, optically narrowed lanes and a reduction in freight traffic, the street is set to become safer. A green central reservation will also give it a leafier look and feel.
The three bicycle tunnels around the RAI are getting a makeover. The tunnel under Europaboulevard will be closed between 30 April and 8 May. A diversion will be put in place for cyclists and pedestrians. The other two tunnels will stay open.
In the course of 2022, maintenance work will be carried out next to the RAI Exhibition Centre in order to make the area greener and safer. Following consultations with residents, parts of the design of Wielingenstraat and the Boerenwetering canal bank have been improved. The schedule has been adjusted accordingly.
The waste containers in Wielingenstraat are being replaced and immediately repositioned. At the moment, there are three containers in two different locations, but these will be replaced by five containers next to each other, between Eendrachtstraat and Krammerstraat.
Major maintenance work is expected to start in Wielingenstraat in July 2022. We have already sounded out local residents and users for their views on what should be done. These have now been incorporated in a provisional design that we will be happy to tell you more about on 11 October 2021.
