Are you interested in organising a film festival, theatre production or concert in Zuidas? It could be possible thanks to a new subsidy scheme especially for cultural events. Private individuals and professional organisers can apply at any time during the year.
The evening of Saturday, 5 August 2023 marks the start of the closure of the A10 Zuid, in the direction of Utrecht and Hengelo. If you’re interested in finding out about what’s happening, why not come and take a look at the works at Amsterdam Zuid station. You can even take part in one (or more) of the other activities.

The homebase for the emergency helicopter serving Amsterdam UMC, VUmc location, is moving to the western harbour area on 19 July 2023. The helipad on the roof of the VUmc will be maintained for the time being, but the number of flights will be significantly reduced.

On 27 July 2023, Amsterdam City Council and the Dutch House of Representatives were updated on progress on the Zuidasdok project in the second half of 2022. The report provides a valuable insight into the status of the work at the end of 2022.
A lot of construction work is taking place between Amsterdam Zuid station and Prinses Irenestraat. In the upcoming period, there will also be works in and around the station. On 3 July 2023, we are organising a walk-in meeting at the Thomaskerk to update you on what is happening.

The relocation of the Sporthallen Zuid sports complex will not be happening after all. The complex will be refurbished and extended on its current site, as the 2023 Spring Memorandum (‘Voorjaarsnota 2023’) reveals. This puts an end to the planned construction of 550 homes in that area.

On 26 April 2023, the tendering process for a new project in the future Ravel residential district was launched. Between the Valley building and De Boelelaan, there are two plots where social and mid-market rented housing, office accommodation and a supermarket are planned.
Exactly 50 years ago, on 12 April 1973, the VU Main Building opened its doors at De Boelelaan 1105. With a floor area of around nine hectares, it was one of Amsterdam’s largest and tallest buildings. There was not yet a trace of Zuidas to be seen.
