In the new Ravel residential district, something extraordinary is happening. To the south of the AFC football pitches, we are digging a canal: Ravelgracht. The fertile soil that we are removing is set to be reused in other places in Amsterdam.
Alongside the 216 starter homes in Stepstone, Ceci is being built, a complex of 25 private sector apartments with a minimum size of 70 square metres. There will be commercial amenities on the ground floor. Ceci is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
In Beethovenstraat, Zadelhoff is developing the complex ‘The Harmony’, with 63 social rental homes and 85 mid-market rental homes. They will be part of the new Ravel residential district that is set to be built between the new AFC football pitches and De Boelelaan.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has commissioned ProRail to embark on a so-called ‘planning and study phase’ exploring the options for a future third railway platform for Amsterdam Zuid station. The station currently has two platforms. Zuidasdok is working on the assumption that there will be a third platform.
On 12 March 2024, more than 150 people visited the market in the Zuidas-Zuidasdok Information Centre. Alongside many familiar faces, there were also quite a lot of new ones. People with specific questions and people with a general interest in Zuidas and Zuidasdok.

The area between Kapel & Convict and the AkzoNobel and Stibbe buildings and the St. Nicolaaslyceum will be given a new layout in the next few years. The preliminary design for the public area is now ready. It is set to be green and park-like.
The City of Amsterdam Executive is opting for a new approach to city development. Densification will feature prominently in it, including in Zuidas. This is revealed in the development strategy ‘Building neighbourhoods for the future’ (‘Bouwen aan buurten van de Toekomst’) that is based on diversity in the city.
Between 19 and 23 February 2024, we will be removing the Carve playground equipment from Beatrixpark. It was becoming less of a source of fun and enjoyment and an increasing cause of nuisance. Zuid city district is now considering what will replace it. You are welcome to contribute any ideas you may have.
Plans for Kop Zuidas to have a residential care centre for former homeless people on plot K will not go ahead. For the centre to be affordable, at least 30 housing units were needed. There is not sufficient space for that. The tender procedure for the plot will be in the second quarter of 2024.
The broad contours of the second passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station became visible. The existing passageway was also renovated. Numerous construction projects were completed. We also put together a great summer party. All of that – and much more – was 2023 in Zuidas.
The contracting parties for the Zuidasdok project have updated Amsterdam’s municipal council and the Dutch House of Representatives regarding progress on Zuidasdok in the first six months of 2023.
