Rapid rise of The Pulse is all thanks to prefab

In the space of 18 months, The Pulse of Amsterdam has been transformed from a construction pit to an eyecatcher in the making. Alongside the A10, the two towers in this megaproject have shot out of the ground like mushrooms. Time for an update on construction progress.

Contractor Nieuw-Zuid to continue with next phase of station regeneration

The Nieuw-Zuid construction consortium (Mobilis, Boskalis, Van Gelder) has officially been given the go-ahead for the next phase of the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. This will involve widening and raising the height of the existing station passageway (the Minervapassage) and making modifications to the railway platforms.

Limited access at Amsterdam Zuid station for two weekends

In the weekends of 9-10 and 23-24 September 2023, there will be disruption for travellers wishing to access the metro or railway from Zuidplein. The station entrance will be closed for up to 10 minutes on a regular basis (every two hours). There will also be noise disruption.

Removing greenery from De Nieuwe Meer interchange

During the preparations for the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer interchange, we have been able to conduct soil surveys without any hindrance. But from the end of August 2023, there will be no way of avoiding it: in order to conduct further surveys and investigations, we need to remove the plants.

Henk Appels will shortly be standing down as Building Manager at the Atrium in Strawinskylaan. He sees a Zuidas that is becoming increasingly busy: homes are being built, and there will be a tunnel and a new passageway in the future. ‘Ultimately, we all need to work together.’

Reminder: A10 Zuid closed in the direction of Schiphol for two weekends

For two weekends in September 2023, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. Between 8 and 11 September and between 22 and 25 September, the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol and The Hague will be closed from the Amstel interchange to the S108 VUmc access road.

Afternoon noise during work on A10 tunnel next to WTC

In August and September 2023, we are carrying out works in Matthijs Vermeulenpad in preparation for the future A10 tunnel. So far, the work has not caused noise disruption. However, on Friday, 25 August we will be inserting four sheet piles into the ground. This is expected to cause noise during the afternoon.

New Zuidas cultural events subsidy scheme

Parnassusweg station entrance already back in use

The station entrance in Parnassusweg was open again on Monday 21 August – two weeks earlier than scheduled. We removed some underground cables and pipelines in order to create space for the future motorway tunnels for the A10 Zuid.

Surveys and investigations at De Nieuwe Meer interchange

The summer of 2023 is about more than just the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. At the De Nieuwe Meer interchange, TriAX is hard at work conducting all kinds of investigations in preparation for the reconstruction of the interchange.
