From April to July 2024, we are working on the metro viaducts across Parnassusweg. We are making preparations to enable the construction of a new viaduct there this summer. During this period, we will be closing the eastern carriageway (in the direction of the city) several times.
Piles, piles and even more piles. Under the roof of the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, everything is focusing on foundation work. A total of around 350 piles are being inserted into the ground for the floor of the new Brittenpassage.
Between 7 July and 26 August 2024, the metros at Amsterdam Zuid station will run a modified service. Metros 50 and 51 will be using a single track instead of two, in both directions. The GVB's Ger Walstra tells us about it.
The definitive entryways to the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, the Brittenpassage, will not be in place until 2036. But when it opens in 2027, they will already be clearly recognisable, as a life-sized impression of the southern entrance shows.
The renovation work at Amsterdam Zuid station involves working on and in a dike that is largely made of sand. Could the construction of the new Brittenpassage have an effect on that dike? The construction manager and a ground specialist explain.
Underneath the roof of the additional passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station, we are doing much more than just digging. Alexander Bor from the Nieuw-Zuid Construction Consortium tells us all about it. ‘By the start of 2024, the southern side of the Brittenpassage will have reached the right depth.’
We have reached yet another milestone for the new passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station. The intensive construction work on the roof is gradually coming to an end. We are pouring some 240 cubic metres of concrete for the seventh and final roof section of the new Brittenpassage
After years of construction away from public view, the digging has started for the passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station: the Brittenpassage. We are removing 50,000 cubic metres of sand from underneath the A10, metro and railway tracks. And the site is spectacular to behold.
In Zuidas, we are building quite a lot of construction pits, often surrounded by steel sheet pile walls. But not all these walls are the same. The method used to drive a sheet pile into the ground can also vary according to the location. We take a look at how it all works.
The Nieuw-Zuid construction consortium (Mobilis, Boskalis, Van Gelder) has officially been given the go-ahead for the next phase of the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. This will involve widening and raising the height of the existing station passageway (the Minervapassage) and making modifications to the railway platforms.
For two weekends in September 2023, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. Between 8 and 11 September and between 22 and 25 September, the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol and The Hague will be closed from the Amstel interchange to the S108 VUmc access road.
On the evening of Wednesday, 9 August, it was finally time for the big event: shifting two sections of the roof for the Brittenpassage, the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, into position millimetre by millimetre. It also attracted a great deal of interest from the press and public.
