Where in Zuidas
The works will involve removing the cycle path/footpath next to the football club between Gustav Mahlerlaan and De Boelelaan, visible on the photograph above. The drains and lamp posts will also be removed. The football club will remain accessible for both cyclists and pedestrians during the work and in the period after it.
Trees
During the preparatory work, we will also be felling three trees to make room for construction. Unfortunately, these trees cannot be repositioned elsewhere. This is because they have already been moved once and will not survive a second move. We will compensate for this via the Zuidas replanting fund. This means we will pay money into the fund to enable us to put trees back at a later stage. The exact location is currently still under consideration.
VU Amsterdam research building
This new building marks VU Amsterdam’s next step in the development and updating of its science accommodation. Together with the 0|2 Lab and the New University Building, the research building will replace the outdated Mathematics and Physics building in A.J. Ernststraat, much of which will be demolished in the near future. You can find more information on the VU Amsterdam website.
