Photo update: construction work on extra station passageway

The access and exit route to the work site

Anyone cycling or walking under the A10 and the railway line via Parnassusweg can see the entrance to the work site under the viaduct. It leads to the place where the ZuidPlus construction consortium is currently building two sections of the roof for the new Brittenpassage.

On the right, the roof section currently serving as a work site

One of the roof sections (that will be under metro track 1) is now ready. Because of limited space, we have covered this section in order to use it as a work site for the other section. On the photo, you can see how we are pouring a solid work floor from this site, on which we will build the other roof section (that will be under railway track 4).

Metro trains are still running on both sides of the construction site

This happened on 19 February 2021, in the tight space between two metro tracks. It may even have been spotted by an eagle-eyed metro passenger. But the view is much better from home, via the webcam which points straight at the construction site.

Work on the abutments along Arnold Schonberglaan

In the lead-up to the Easter weekend of intensive work, we are working in various locations on abutments for the two roof sections. These are heavy concrete foundations, needed to withstand the force of the railway and metro.

In the period ahead, we will move the abutments to the right position on the work site between the metro tracks. It’s bound to provide even more great photo opportunities. All of the photos are by Marcel Steinbach.
