Why are we closing the A10 Zuid eight times?
Work on the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction starts this year. During the first weekends, we will be converting the rush-hour lane in the direction of Hengelo into a permanent carriageway. In the weekends after that, we will be making the carriageways narrower to create space for the widening of the A10. During one of the weekends, we will also be working on the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station at the same time. Since this will involve some lifting work, we will be using heavy-duty equipment on the A10.

We have chosen to close the A10 at weekends because there is less traffic than on working days. Despite this, there could be delays of up to one hour. The diversion route will be signposted above and alongside the road.

Zuidasdok

All of these works are part of Zuidasdok, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. It is set to improve accessibility in Amsterdam and the northern part of the Randstad, both by road and public transport. The project includes the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station, the widening of the A10 Zuid from four to six lanes and the diversion of the A10 Zuid into a tunnel in the central area of Zuidas. Zuidasdok is a collaboration between the Public Works Department (Rijkswaterstaat), ProRail and the City of Amsterdam.
