400 Beethovenstraat

In the new NautaDutilh accommodation in Zuidas, both the interior and the exterior have been especially designed to create opportunities for offering employees a flexible and healthy working environment. The staircases are centrally located and careful attention has been paid to achieving a good balance between individual and collective facilities. The terraces on the different floors ensure that employees maintain contact with the elements. The volume of the building has been coordinated in line with plans for future construction in Mahlerlaan and Beethovenstraat.

The exterior has a formal appearance to the north and north-east, with a more personal look and feel on the south-west side. These two different treatments gradually merge into each other to create a rounded look with no obvious transition from front to back. The open and closed sections of the façade are also tailored to match the building’s orientation. This helps make it possible to regulate exposure to heat in a sustainable way. The continuous white lines on the exterior reflect the building’s surroundings. The twisted blocks and overhang give the building a dynamic look and feel, creating a landmark and point of orientation within the future profile of Beethovenstraat. The transitional edge in the blocks distorts the perspective from both sides.
