- Eye to eye with the entryway to the Brittenpassage The definitive entryways to the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, the Brittenpassage, will not be in place until 2036. But when it opens in 2027, they will already be clearly recognisable, as a life-sized impression of the southern entrance shows.
- Preliminary design for Beatrixpark site now ready The area between Kapel & Convict and the AkzoNobel and Stibbe buildings and the St. Nicolaaslyceum will be given a new layout in the next few years. The preliminary design for the public area is now ready. It is set to be green and park-like.
- Emergency accommodation for families in Kenniskwartier In the former Ronald McDonald House, close to Amsterdam UMC location VUmc, there will be permanent emergency accommodation with room for around 20 families starting from October 2024. The building is being renovated from April to September.
- Working together on a vibrant Kenniskwartier Kenniskwartier (Knowledge District) is developing fast. VU Campus is being regenerated, around 2,700 homes are set to be built and there are new amenities and green areas under development along with a thriving centre for research and education. All of this in what will soon be an amazingly accessible location.
- City Executive opts for new approach to city development The City of Amsterdam Executive is opting for a new approach to city development. Densification will feature prominently in it, including in Zuidas. This is revealed in the development strategy ‘Building neighbourhoods for the future’ (‘Bouwen aan buurten van de Toekomst’) that is based on diversity in the city.
- Playground equipment in Beatrixpark to be removed Between 19 and 23 February 2024, we will be removing the Carve playground equipment from Beatrixpark. It was becoming less of a source of fun and enjoyment and an increasing cause of nuisance. Zuid city district is now considering what will replace it. You are welcome to contribute any ideas you may have.
- 1 February: new Service & Tickets desk opens On Thursday, 1 February 2024, the new GVB Service & Tickets desk in the existing passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station will open. The existing desk has to be removed to make space for the renovation of the passageway.
- Wooden head offices for BNP Paribas and Arcadis On the so-called ‘de Boog‘ plot, construction work has started on The CubeHouse. This will be the new head offices of BNP Paribas Nederland and Arcadis. Remarkably, this office tower, developed by G&S&, will mostly be made out of wood.
- Summer weekend closure of A10 Zuid in Schiphol direction From 12 to 15 July 2024, the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol will be closed for a whole weekend from the Amstel interchange to the S108 Amstelveenseweg access road. This marks the start of six full weeks of work at Amsterdam Zuid station. This year will see several road closures.
- Preparations for extra breakdown bay on A10 Zuid From 29 January until 16 February 2024, we are closing Spoorslag, the cycle path and footpath parallel to the A10 Zuid next to the AFC Amsterdam football pitches. In this area, we are preparing to build an additional breakdown bay on the A10 Zuid.
