Amstel junction: from investigations to design and construction
Since mid-March 2026, we have been carrying out extensive asphalt and soil surveys in and around Amstel junction. We want to gain a better understanding of the substrate. This is necessary to complete the provisional design later this autumn.
Removal of old platform canopies at Amsterdam Zuid station
During the weekend of 10-13 April 2026, we will remove a large part of the old train platform canopies at Amsterdam Zuid station. This marks a milestone in the renewal of the existing passenger tunnel, which is set to undergo a major reconstruction.
Rapid progress towards completion of the Brittenpassage
In 2027, you will enter Amsterdam Zuid station via the new passenger tunnel, the Brittenpassage. The construction site beneath the A10 Zuid is visibly transforming into a passageway with plenty of daylight, an indoor bicycle parking facility and escalators. Take a look.

31 March: information meeting about works at De Nieuwe Meer junction
As you may have noticed, work on widening the A10 Zuid is in full progress. This involves a number of road closures and sometimes noise disturbance. During an information meeting on 31 March 2026, we will tell you all about the works. You are welcome to attend.
The connection from the A10 South to the A10 West Leeuwarden/Zaanstad will be closed from Friday March 27, 2026 from 10 p.m. to Monday morning March 30 at 5 a.m. (was: Sunday morning 10 a.m.). One lane on the A4 towards Schiphol is also closed.
How is the renovation of the Schinkelbrug progressing?
Zuidasdok is constructing two additional bridges for road traffic over the Schinkel. We aim to do this without disrupting road and water traffic. That creates several challenges. Here is an update.
Testing construction techniques for the A10 Zuid tunnel – come and watch
Construction of the A10 Zuid tunnel will begin in 2027, but we are already testing different construction methods for the tunnel walls. We are organising two free guided tours to the test location, between the courthouse and the Buitenveldert cemetery. You are welcome to join us.

The former Holiday Inn will reopen as apartment hotel The July, expected in mid-2027. The building on De Boelelaan is currently undergoing a complete renovation. Work is in full progress, both inside and out.
Weekend of 13-16 March: road connecting A10 Zuid – A10 West closed
From Friday, 13 March 2026 at 22.00 until Monday, 16 March at 05.00, the road connecting the A10 Zuid to the A10 West (in the direction of Leeuwarden/Zaanstad) will be closed. During this period, we will be working on a new fly-over and on the Schinkelbrug bridge.
No trains to or from Amsterdam Zuid station during the weekend of 28 February – 1 March
During the weekend of Saturday, 28 February and Sunday, 1 March 2026, there will be no train services to or from Amsterdam Zuid station. The station will remain accessible by metro. Please allow for some additional travel time and plan your journey in advance using the NS journey planner.

On 7 and 21 February 2026, we welcomed more than 500 visitors for an exclusive preview of the new Brittenpassage – the second passenger tunnel scheduled to open by 2027. On the work site beneath the train and metro tracks and the A10 Zuid, you asked us everything you wanted to know.
The redevelopment of Amsterdam Zuid station and the A10 Zuid goes hand in hand with a new design for the green areas between the Amstel and De Nieuwe Meer junctions. Completion is scheduled for 2037, but trees are already being grown in preparation.
Students will be able to stay for one additional academic year at Student Experience on De Boelegracht. The City of Amsterdam has extended the land lease agreement with the owner until 28 February 2028.
34 girders precisely positioned for new southern Schinkelbrug
In the freezing cold weekend of 14 and 15 February 2026, we hoisted 34 girders into place for the new southern bridge of the Schinkelbrug. Two giant telescopic cranes carried out the operation on a closed section of the A10 Zuid.
Definitive design approved for residential building Ceci
The definitive design for Ceci has been completed. The residential building will comprise 24 private sector apartments in the Kenniskwartier neighbourhood, ranging in size from 72 to 213 sq. m. Construction is expected to start in late summer 2026.
Your ideas about public space in Parnas neighbourhood
The public space around the future Hartwig Museum in the Parnas neighbourhood will soon be given new green landscaping. We are consulting the local community on this and can now report on the initial results.
Spring holiday: work on tram 25 stop in Parnassusweg
From 16 February until 2 March 2026, work will be carried out on the temporary stop for trams 5 and 25 next to Parnassusweg. The work will include building a turning track to enable trams from Uithoorn to turn around. Various diversions will be in place.
Heavy transport: 34 girders for extra Schinkelbrug
During the weekend of 13-16 February 2026, our work widening the Schinkelbrug bridge will reach a major milestone. We will be hoisting the first girders for the new southern bridge into position. The bridge deck will ultimately be supported by these. The A10 Zuid will be closed.
Trains at Amsterdam Zuid to stop 100 m further west
Starting from 2 March 2026, the trains at Amsterdam Zuid station will be stopping around 100 m further to the west. From that date, passengers should expect a slightly longer walk to and from the passenger tunnel, including when changing trains/metros. Why is this?
Second-chance materials for Brittenpassage station plazas
We are set to relandscape the area around the new passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station. Since this will be temporary, we are trying to maximise the reuse of materials, such as bicycle racks, lamp posts, seating and even street paving.
16 February – 8 March: Amstelveenseweg viaduct disruption
From 16 February until 8 March 2026, we will be working next to the A10 viaduct across Amstelveenseweg on two construction gateways leading to our construction sites. The bus station will remain accessible but the main access to the metro station will be on the other side. There will be diversions in place for cyclists and pedestrians.
February: two weekends of road closures on the southern side of Amsterdam
During the weekends of 13–16 February and 20–23 February 2026, the A10 Zuid will be closed in the direction of the A1 Hengelo and A2 Utrecht, up to exit S108. From the A4 Schiphol, A9 Amstelveen and A10 West, additional travel time may increase by up to one hour.
Speed controls during work on A10 Zuid prove effective
From 23 to 25 January 2026, we partially closed the A10 Zuid to carry out work on the Schinkelbrug bridge. The police conducted speed controls to enable us to work safely. And it proved successful: only 30 vehicles exceeded the maximum speed of 70 km/h.
The CubeHouse hybrid wooden office tower completed
On the corner of Parnassusweg and Claude Debussylaan, the first hybrid wooden office tower in Zuidas has been completed: The CubeHouse. In the period ahead, BNP Paribas Nederland and Arcadis will be moving into the building.
How do you move 830,000 cubic metres of earth for the A10 tunnel?
In the future, part of the A10 Zuid will disappear into a tunnel. Building that tunnel will produce a huge amount of earth: as much as 830,000 cubic metres in total. How do we transport all that earth away? And what do we do with it afterwards?
The Brittenpassage, the additional passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid, is nearing completion. You can come and take a look for yourself on Saturday, 7 and 21 February. You will find out how to access the trains and metros in the future, where to park your bike and where you can go shopping.
Between 26 January and 7 February 2026, we will be felling around 600 trees next to the cycle path between the RAI and the A10 Zuid. This is necessary in order to move an underground stormwater drain later this year. There will be diversions in place for cyclists and pedestrians.
The First Sponsor Group and the City of Amsterdam have plans to make the Meerparc office building into a lively place, with housing, offices, commercial amenities and a lot of green areas. Their ideas for the plans were shared with the local neighbourhood on 14 January 2026.
A10 Zuid speed controls during works on 23-25 January
From 23 to 25 January 2026, the police will be conducting speed controls at the Schinkelbrug bridge. On those days, we will be working on the new southern bridge right next to the traffic on the A10 Zuid. We are determined to do this work safely, both for us and for road users.
What’s that huge pile of sand doing next to the A4?
Next to the motorway running from Schiphol/The Hague to the A10 Zuid, there is a gigantic pile of sand. Not much is happening there yet, but it will ultimately serve as a key component in the complete regeneration of the De Nieuwe Meer junction. So what is going on?
The regenerated station and the city as its backdrop

Central government and region to decide on Zuidasdok progress

New roof for a new metro platform at Amsterdam Zuid
A milestone captured on camera: during the weekend of 10-11 January 2026, we lifted a section of the platform roofs for the new metro platform at Amsterdam Zuid station into position. The weather conditions were icy and the photos are beautiful.
