From Tuesday, 28 April at 07.00 until Friday, 1 May at 19.00, we will install foundation piles near the car park on the Riekerweg (close to Tuinpark Ons Buiten). This is in preparation for a new viaduct to be built on the A4. To widen the A10 Zuid, the existing viaduct will be demolished and replaced by a completely new structure that can accommodate additional lanes. The new viaduct is expected to be in use by mid-2027.
Working safely during motorway closure
The piling takes place very close to the motorway and can only be carried out safely during a road closure. From 27 April at 22.00 to 2 May at 08.00, the A4 between Badhoevedorp and De Nieuwe Meer junction will be closed, allowing us to work safely. By continuing the piling works at night, we reduce the overall duration of the closure. We will make every effort to minimise noise disturbance. Before piling, we will pre-drill the ground, which helps to reduce noise and vibrations.
Reserve days 2 and 3 May 2026
During the same period, we will also install sheet piles along the Jaagpad (near the Schinkelbrug). If the works cannot be completed within the planned timeframe, Saturday, 2 May and Sunday, 3 May 2026 have been scheduled as reserve days for installing the foundation piles and sheet piles.
Adapting bridges and viaducts
We are widening the A10 Zuid between the De Nieuwe Meer and Amstel junctions. Two additional lanes will be added to the existing four lanes in each direction, bringing the total to six lanes per direction. This will separate through traffic from local traffic. Four lanes will be used for through traffic, while two lanes will serve local traffic (access and exit roads S108 and S109). To make the widening of the A10 Zuid and traffic separation possible, we also need to adapt existing viaducts and bridges.
