You’ll need to be quick, though, as one of the three ‘Parels van Zuidas’ (Hidden Gems of Zuidas) guided tours we’re organising on 10 October is already fully booked. There are still places available on our ‘Kunst in Zuidas’ (Art in Zuidas) guided tour (12.30 – 13.30) and ‘Techniekrondleiding over Zuidasdok’ (Zuidasdok Engineering Tour, 13.15–14.15), so make sure you sign up soon. Missed out on a place? Don’t worry, there’s plenty more to see and do. Here’s a brief overview.

Cinema The Pulse

During 24 Hours Zuid, Shortcutz Amsterdam will present a selection of short films by Dutch filmmakers. The programme runs from 13.00 to 17.00. Feel free to drop in whenever it suits you: stay for just one film or enjoy the entire programme. Bar Restaurant Lucy will also be open for food and drinks, and will host an open stage in the afternoon. Admission is free. More information (in Dutch)

Circus Odesa

The circular Kapel building in Beatrixpark is now home to Circus Odesa, a new cultural venue in Zuidas. During 24 Hours Zuid, you can join a guided tour of the building, explore an exhibition featuring Ukrainian artists or take part in one of the cooking workshops, including fermentation workshops. It’s a great way to discover more about Ukrainian cuisine. You’re welcome from 11.00 to 19.00. Admission is free. More information

At Hartwig Proxy, an experimental space for the future Hartwig Museum, sound artist and composer Ege Şahin will give a musical performance. The performance will take place in Proxy’s intimate basement, where you can experience Şahin’s work with sound and music up close. From 11.00 to 18.00, you can drop in to enjoy a presentation of video works, good company, cake and drinks. The concert takes place from 18.30 to 20.00. Admission is free. More information

Stargazing in Amsterdam? Yes, it’s possible. And from a rather special location: on 10 October, volunteers from Volkssterrenwacht Amsterdam, the city’s public observatory, will set up their telescopes on the rooftop terrace of nhow Amsterdam RAI hotel. Between 19.30 and 23.30, they’ll tell you all about the universe, planets, the moon and the stars. More information

WTC Zuidplein, Amsterdam in miniature

At the impressive scale model of the city in WTC Amsterdam on Zuidplein (next to Wagamama) journalist Marcel van Engelen will host two interactive Q&A sessions exploring how Amsterdam has changed from 1980 to the present day.
