Update Thursday, 19 September 2024
We have received a number of reports from the locality about the noise caused by the work. The ‘Omgevingsdienst Noordzeekanaalgebied’ (environmental agency) will be regularly carrying out tests during the work to verify whether the noise levels are in compliance with the relevant standards. If they are not, then the work will be halted immediately. Unfortunately, we cannot exclude the possibility that some people will still be able to hear the work.

If you have any questions or comments, or wish to report anything during the construction work, please contact the developers, SBB Ontwikkelen en Bouwen, on 0251 277777, or at info@wijzijnsbb.nl

The piles for the Ravelly residential tower (75 social rental homes owned by Woningstichting Rochdale) are up to twenty metres in length and will be driven into the ground at a rate of ten to twelve piles each day, which means the operation will take ten working days. The work will be carried out on midweek days between 07.00 and 16.00, although this may be extended to 19.00 if necessary. There are no residences or offices nearby that could be affected by the noise or vibrations. Because there is a dedicated entrance to the building site, adjacent to the Valley building, there will be no adverse effects from the logistical aspects either.

Schedule for the construction of Ravelly

During the past few months, contractors SBB Ontwikkelen en Bouwen have been preparing the building site by placing fencing and a construction trailer. The pile driving work will start on 18 September, marking the first phase of the construction of the residential block. That first phase also includes the creation of an excavation pit and the installation of the foundations and the basement of the tower. After around five months, from February 2025, the work will progress upwards, with the shell of the building and the fitting out of the tower. This is expected to take around eighteen months, which means the residents will be able to move in during the autumn of 2026.

Ravel residential neighbourhood
The Ravelly residential tower will form part of the future Ravel residential neighbourhood. It will be a mixed, green, and car-free neighbourhood that will be home to around 1,350 homes. Building work started on the Kindercampus Zuidas in 2024. The construction of 75 social rented homes in Ravelly marks the start of the creation of new homes.
