The 16-day closure of the A10 Zuid and the A10 Oost has yet to end, but the next period of works is already set to start. From 01.00 on the morning of Saturday, 12 July until 05.00 on Monday 25 August, we will be working on a new roof for the existing passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station, the Minervapassage. This will require work next to and underneath the most southerly metro track. Throughout this period, travellers should note that a revised service will apply to both metro and railway. We will also be working in the station passageway, which means that, at various times, the routes to and from the platforms will be closed or restricted or there will be diversions in place.

12 July – 3 August: station passageway closures

Between Saturday, 12 July and Sunday, 3 August, there will be several times when you may find that the station passageway is affected by closures. The metros and trains will remain accessible throughout this period, but, for safety reasons, it will not always be possible to walk through the whole passageway past the works. The metro platforms will be accessible via the northern entrance (Zuidplein) only and the railway platforms by the entrance on the other side of the station (Mahlerplein). If you need to change between the metro and railway, this will only be possible by taking the diversion via Zuidplein-Mathijs Vermeulenpad-Beethovenstraat-Spoorslag-Mahlerplein and vice-versa. You can expect this to add around 10 minutes to your journey. Special transport will be available on both sides of the station for people with mobility issues.

See ‘Current disruption’ for details of the exact dates and times.

27 June – 18 August: reduced railway service

Because of other ongoing works, the revised railway timetable already took effect on Friday, 27 June and will last until Wednesday, 30 July. After that, during the weekend of 16/17 August, another revised timetable will be in force, when we will be working on railway tracks 1 and 2. You should therefore expect the trains to be full(er) and the platforms to be more crowded. Consult the NS travel planner or 9292.nl for up-to-date travel information.

12 July – 25 August: reduced metro service

The modified metro timetable will apply from Saturday, 12 July and run until a week after our works, in other words until Sunday, 24 August. This extra week is due to works by the GVB. You should therefore expect the metros to be full(er) and the platforms to be more crowded. Consult the GVB app Gappie or 9292.nl for up-to-date travel information.

New roof sections above Minervapassage

We are replacing a section of the roof of the existing station passageway at Amsterdam Zuid (Minervapassage) because, in the future, it will be twice as high and more than three times as wide as it currently is. In the summer of 2023, we moved the first new roof section into its permanent position. In the future, the tracks for line 52 (the North/South metro line) will be on top of this. On top of this roof section, we previously built the second roof section for the Minervapassage, which we shifted to the north in the summer of 2024 underneath the metro track serving lines 50 and 51 in the direction of Isolatorweg.

A new roof section is now ready and waiting in the same position and we will be pushing it under the most southerly metro track on Tuesday, 29 July (or a day earlier, depending on how the work progresses). This is the track that serves line 50 in the direction of Gein and line 51 in the direction of Amsterdam Central Station. When this roof section is in position, all of the metro tracks served by the Minervapassage will be at the right height.

Major disruption on Saturday 12 July
Saturday, 12 July is also the final day of the 16-day closure of the A10 Zuid and the A10 Oost. This means that, on that date, the A10 Oost will reopen again at 05.00 in the morning, followed by the A10 Zuid at 21.00 in the evening later that day. The metro and railway will then already be running a revised service. In addition, Amstelveenseweg will also be completely closed to motorised traffic as part of a longer closure that lasts from 11 July until 20 August.
