Update, Tuesday 22 July Correction: as plans currently stand, the passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, the Minervapassage, will still be closed on Wednesday, 30 July (from 05.30 to 20.00) and all day on Friday, 1 August and Saturday, 2 August.

Update, Monday 21 July As plans currently stand, the passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, the Minervapassage, will still be closed on Wednesday, 30 July (until 19.00) and on Friday, 1 August (all day).

Currently, Amsterdam Zuid station is incredibly busy. Since 12 July, we have been working in the passageway renovating the roof and there has been a reduced metro service. In order to ensure that the work is safe for passengers and construction workers, we are regularly closing half of the passageway, between the railway and metro platforms. The works are scheduled for completion on Monday, 25 August. So, what can you expect if you are travelling via Amsterdam Zuid station?

Getting on and off trains

It will still be possible to access the trains throughout the period until Monday, 25 August. But, please note: while the passageway is closed, railway passengers will use the southern entrance only (Mahlerplein). If you are at the ‘wrong’ entrance and the passageway is closed in the middle, you will have to walk for around 10 minutes to reach the other entrance via the diversion route Zuidplein-Matthijs Vermeulenpad-Beethovenstraat-Spoorslag-Mahlerplein. For passengers with mobility issues and people with luggage, special transport will be available on both sides of the station between 06.00 in the morning and midnight. If you report to the yellow beach flag, the taxi will take you to the other side of the station.

Getting on and off metro

It will still be possible to access the metros throughout the period until Monday, 25 August. But, please note: while the passageway is closed, metro passengers will only use the northern entrance (Zuidplein). If you are at the ‘wrong’ entrance and the passageway is closed in the middle, you will have to walk for around 10 minutes to reach the other entrance via the same diversion route, but in the opposite direction: Mahlerplein-Spoorslag-Beethovenstraat-Matthijs Vermeulenpad-Zuidplein. For passengers with mobility issues and people with luggage, special transport will be available on both sides of the station between 06.00 in the morning and midnight. If you report to the yellow beach flag, the taxi will take you to the other side of the station.

Changing between train and metro

During a passageway closure, you will not be able to change between train and metro via the station passageway. You will also have to use the diversion route via Zuidplein-Matthijs Vermeulenpad-Beethovenstraat-Spoorslag-Mahlerplein and vice-versa (around 10 minutes). For passengers with mobility issues and people with luggage, special transport will be available on both sides of the station between 06.00 in the morning and midnight. If you report to the yellow beach flag, the taxi will take you to the other side of the station.

Railway schedule changes
There will be a modified railway timetable from 27 June until 30 July. After that, during the weekend of 16/17 August, another different timetable will be in force, when we will be working on railway tracks 1 and 2. You should therefore expect the trains to be full(er) and the platforms to be more crowded. Consult the NS travel planner or 9292.nl for up-to-date travel information.

Metro schedule changes
From Saturday, 12 July until Sunday, 24 August, there will be fewer metros running because of our works and works by the GVB. You should therefore expect the metros to be full(er) and the platforms to be more crowded. Consult the GVB app Gappie or 9292.nl for up-to-date travel information.
