Housing is set to be built on plot 6/7, in the area between the AkzoNobel and Stibbe offices, the St. Nicolaaslyceum school and Kapel & Convict. Here, developer Breevast will be building Park Meadows: 213 apartments, a combination of owner-occupied, mid-market rental and private-sector rental properties, spread across two buildings.
Design and programme
According to the plan, there will be two residential towers, with a total of 213 homes. The east tower will boast 19 floors and the apartments will be available to rent. The west tower will have 17 floors and apartments will be owner occupied. The apartments will vary in size and price category.
In the plinth (the ground floor), which will form a transparent connection between the two towers, there will be a lounge and a co-working space. The ground floor will include space for hospitality, wellness facilities and places to work or relax. This floor will also provide access to a swimming pool for residents of the west tower. The basement will boast a gym and space for bicycle racks, with parking in the layer below that.
The public areas will be given green landscaping to match Beatrixpark.
There have been plans for housing construction on the site since as early as 2007. After the St. Nicolaaslyceum in the centre of Beatrixpark was demolished and the school moved to its current location in Beethovenstraat, this created space to add further buildings here, behind the AkzoNobel and Stibbe offices. However, in the wake of the financial crisis, housing construction on the site was postponed and the field was planted up. The plot is now set to be used as intended.
Process and schedule
Construction work started in 2023. It is expected that the first residents will be able to move into their new homes in autumn 2027.
Spatial planning procedures and consultation
The environmental permit needed has been granted.
