The Kapel & Convict buildings are located in Prinses Irenestraat in Beatrixpark. These two buildings are municipal monuments and part of what used to be the St. Nicolaaslyceum. From mid-2025, Convict will be put to use for a five-year period as accommodation for Ukrainian refugees. When the work on the Convict building has been completed (probably in June this year), the Kapel can also be put to use for a five-year period.

Incubator concept or art and culture plan

The Kapel building has been designated for use as a cultural or social amenity. This could be an incubator concept or an art and culture plan. It is important for the building to be given a use that focuses both on the local community and the refugees in the adjacent monastery (Convict) building. Ancillary hospitality/catering is one potential option.

If you are interested in renting the building, you have until 3 April 2025 to submit a plan. Applications must be in line with the Studio and Creative Incubator Policy (Atelier- en Broedplaatsenbeleid) or meet one of the criteria in the Outline for the Plan for the Arts (Amsterdamse Hoofdlijnen voor het Kunstenplan). Plans submitted will be put to a selection committee. You can read full details of the procedures in this brochure (pdf). (All information in Dutch.)

If you still have questions about submitting a plan after reading the brochure, you can put your question via broedplaats@amsterdam.nl.
