Ravel
Ravel is set to be a car-free, green and mixed residential neighbourhood at the heart of Zuidas, where the emphasis will be on families. Leisure, meeting each other, exercise and play are key objectives of the plan.
The Ravel neighbourhood will boast around 1,350 homes, 40% of them social rented, 40% mid-market rented and 20% private sector housing. At the sides of the neighbourhood, there is also space for offices, a range of commercial and social amenities, a school and hospitality outlets. The Kindercampus Zuidas is located at the heart of the neighbourhood.
Opposite the residential district is the municipal Goed Genoeg Sports Park, home to AFC football club. The residential district and the sports complex are separated by the newly-completed (constructed between summer 2023 and February 2025) Maurice Ravellaan and the adjacent canal Maurice Ravelgracht, which lead off from Gustav Mahlerlaan.
Car-free, green public space
In Ravel, cars are not permitted in the public realm. Instead, there is plenty of space for greenery that connects the built-up area and public realm, boosts biodiversity and offers pleasant opportunities for use by adults and for children to play. Thanks to the De Boelegracht and its soft canal banks, green areas and water intermingle.
