The facility, known as the test facility, belongs to the TriAX construction consortium (Besix, Dura Vermeer and Heijmans) and is located on the construction site alongside the A4 and A10 West. It is used to extensively test the operating system and other technical components for the future Schinkelbrug. The test facility and all the equipment inside it have been completely destroyed.
Investigation
We are currently investigating what impact the fire will have on the Zuidasdok works and schedule. The cause of the fire is also being investigated. We will provide an update as soon as more information is available.
Schinkelbrug
As part of the widening of the A10 Zuid, we are building an additional bridge on both the northern and southern sides of the existing Schinkelbrug. The Schinkelbrug will eventually consist of eight bridges: five for road traffic, two for trains and one for metros. The Schinkelbrug is currently operated from a temporary control cabin next to the Nieuwe Meersluis building. At the end of 2027, operations will move to the Nieuwe Meersluis building, where the bridge operators will start using the new operating system.
