Plenty to do in Zuidas on Open Tower Day 2022

Once a year, around 10,000 Amsterdam citizens join other visitors to take a look at a range of historic and modern towers in Amsterdam. They can do the same this year at Open Tower Day on Saturday, 26 March. The day gets off to a resounding start at 10.00 as the carillonneurs at Amsterdam Royal Palace, the Zuider Kerk Tower, the Ouder Kerk Tower and the VU Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit) ring their carillons. In Zuidas, you will then be able to enjoy the views from the Valley Skylounge, or from the roof of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Amsterdam in Gustav Mahlerlaan.

Visit to Zuidas towers

At the circular pavilion Circl, people will be standing by to answer all your questions about this unique building. On the other side of Zuid station, in the World Trade Center, ‘urban sketchers’ will be on hand to record the day’s events on paper. In the OZW building at Vrije Universiteit (popularly known as ‘the red potato’) in De Boelelaan, there will be photos and videos chronicling the development of Zuidas over recent decades. You will have an outstanding view across the area from the Crowne Plaza Hotel Amsterdam, the Symphony Tower and the Valley Skylounge.

Models and architecture tours

Open Tower Day 2022 has even more to offer than fantastic panoramic views. Anyone who wants to find out more about Zuidas or the major Zuidasdok infrastructure project can go to the WTC Information Centre. In it, a presentation will be held next to the large model of the area at 11.00 and 13.00. You can register for it on the Open Tower Day website. In the ABN-AMRO building in Gustav Mahlerlaan, the miniature model of the area will also be on display and there will be a range of art and architecture tours.
