More specifically, the permit relates to the development of the Zuidas area, for the purposes of realising temporary and permanent paving, canal filling, dams and culverts, excavations, bridges, shoring and sheet piling. The general permit will not apply to works involving flood defences and groundwater. Zuidas needs to apply for a separate water permit for these.
End to separate permits
The advantage offered by the general permit is that Zuidas no longer needs to apply for a separate permit for each set of works. However, any work done under the general permit must be reported to the water authority. This will enable Zuidas to work more efficiently and faster. The general permit will be valid for eight years.
Lodge an objection
The application for the general permit was already open for consulation at the end of 2023 and interested parties had an opportunity to submit their views on it. One person responded. This related to a textual error only.
