This concerns the grassy verge between Strawinskypad and Strawinskylaan above it where the buses and trams depart from. On the section next to the Strawinskyhuis, which was completed in 2023, we are adding around 20 new trees and fresh planting. There will be some minor disruption to cyclists and pedestrians.
Natural look
The new trees will be spread at random across the grass verge, creating a natural look. The planting chosen can withstand drought and shade and has been selected to ensure that there are plants in flower every season. This new landscape will therefore match the rest of the verge between Amaliaplein and Parnassusweg.
Schedule and disruption
Starting on Monday, 3 February, we will be cleaning the verge and removing dead bushes and loose branches. Throughout this period, the cycle path will be partly fenced off, but can still be used. On Monday, 17 and Tuesday, 18 February only, both the cycle path and the footpath will be completely closed and traffic will be diverted via Prinses Irenestraat. On those days, we will be moving several trees from the GVB shelter in Strawinskylaan to this grass verge; these trees will need to be moved in any case later this year because the GVB shelter is being refurbished. In order to use large-scale equipment to carry out this move, we are closing Strawinskypad completely on those two days. From Wednesday, 19 February until Friday, 7 March, we will plant the rest of the trees and new planting.
