On construction safari with Zuidasdok

Step into a ‘safari car’, leave well-trodden paths and discover hidden places where bridges, flyovers and extra lanes are being built for the A10 Zuid. Around the Schinkelbrug bridge, you will get a close-up view of huge cranes, excavations and foundations for new bridges. If you look carefully, you will see the future ahead of you. Children are welcome to attend. On the way, they can play a special ‘spot the Big 5’ construction bingo game.

Take a look out over the future residential neighbourhood

Family homes in Zuidas? It’s true. And also affordable for you. Join us as we visit the viewing point behind the AFC playing fields and Valley and get to know the new, car-free Ravel residential district. Some 1,350 spacious homes are being developed here. Construction work has already started, as you can see from a special viewing point. Thanks to 3D images, you can gain a sneak preview of what it will ultimately look like. You may even be looking at your own future neighbourhood.

Guided tour: STRAAT Museum in Zuidas

The STRAAT Museum and Zuidas are teaming up to present the open-air exhibition ‘Zuidas: Building Connections’. Nine street artists will showcase their vision of the district. On the guided tour, you will visit nine murals and hear all about the history. You will meet several artists who will explain the techniques used to create these wall paintings.

Exhibition: From marshland to Zuidas

The village of Aemstelledamme flourished in 1275 thanks to its excellent accessibility. Centuries later, slightly further south, a new city centre, Zuidas, emerged for the same reason. In Zuidas, everything is about the future. But the district also has a history of its own. What did Hendrik Berlage in 1904 and Cornelis van Eesteren in 1935 think about plans to extend the city in a southerly direction? And what dreams did Pi de Bruijn envisage when he wrote the Masterplan Zuidas in the late 1990s? Visit the temporary exhibition at the Zuidas-Zuidasdok Information Centre and gain a better understanding of the transformation that Zuidas is currently undergoing: from an exclusive business district to a mixed area that welcomes all people of Amsterdam to live, work and spend time here. Just drop into the Zuidas-Zuidasdok Information Centre between 10.00-16.00 from Monday to Friday. Address and directions.

More spectacles to come

Of course, you can also register for the other parts of the programme. And there’s even more to come. We’re still working on a special event… So keep a close eye on our website.
