We are carrying out preparatory work on the viaduct above Parnassusweg in order to lengthen the platforms. With the opening of the Brittenpassage in 2027, they will temporarily be located above Parnassusweg. This work will mean that Parnassusweg will be partly closed to motor traffic on several occasions, including one four-day period of the road in the direction of the city centre. The footpath and cycle path on the west side (leading out of the city towards Buitenveldert) will also be closed on occasion. On Monday 23 June, three cycle storage racks at the station entrance on the eastern side of Parnassusweg will be removed.

Monday 23 June to Thursday 26 June

During this time, we will be inserting a foundation pile into the ground on the eastern side (towards the city centre) of Parnassusweg and placing a steel support. As a result, Parnassusweg (towards the city) will be closed for four days.

Cyclists take note! On Monday 23 June, we will remove three sets of dual-layer cycle storage racks from the eastern side of Parnassusweg (the station side) – this is our working site beneath the viaduct, at the location of the station entrance. The area will be fenced off. This information will also be posted on yellow signs in the area in advance.

Disruption

  • From 07:00 on Monday 23 June until 19:00 on Thursday 26 June, the eastern side of the road (towards the city) will be closed.

Diversions

  • Road users on the eastern side (towards the city) will be diverted via De Boelelaan, Beethovenstraat, and Strawinskylaan.
  • The cycle path on the eastern side (towards the city) will remain open throughout this period.
  • Buses and emergency vehicles will be diverted via Beethovenstraat.

Monday 30 June until the morning of Friday 4 July

Over the course of four nights, we will be assembling the steel construction on the train viaduct for the extended train platform, above the support. We will be creating a work space between the two train viaducts. We will connect the two viaducts into one whole, in order to protect our colleagues and the traffic on Parnassusweg from the danger of falling. To prevent disruption in the daytime, we will be working on four successive nights.

Disruption

  • During the evening and night of Monday 30 June, the road, footpath, and cycle path on the western side (away from the city, towards Buitenveldert) will be completely closed from 20:00 until 06:00 the following morning.
  • During the evening and night of Tuesday 1 July, Wednesday 2 July, and Thursday 3 July, the road will be closed in both directions from 20:00 until 06:00 the following morning.

Diversions

  • Road users on the western side (away from the city, towards Buitenveldert) will be diverted via Strawinskylaan, Beethovenstraat, and De Boelelaan.
  • Road users on the eastern side (towards the city) will be diverted via De Boelelaan, Beethovenstraat, and Strawinskylaan.
  • Buses and emergency vehicles will be diverted via Beethovenstraat.

Renovation of Amsterdam Zuid station

In 2027, work will start on the complete renovation of the existing station entrance, the Minervapassage. As a result, the station entrance will be relocated to the new Brittenpassage (opening in 2027), and some of the platforms near the Minervapassage will be closed to passengers. To ensure that the platforms are of the required length, we will be extending the platforms to above Parnassusweg.
