Accessibility
Zuidasdok will improve accessibility to Zuidas and to the northern Randstad conurbation. The southern section of Amsterdam’s A10 ring motorway will be widened from four to six lanes. It will also run underground where it passes through the heart of Zuidas. Amsterdam Zuid station is being completely renewed. It will soon be a hub for various forms of transport (and public transport). The station area will become a lot greener.
Diversions
The construction or renovation of houses, offices and facilities involves quite a lot of work. The first job often involves moving any cables and pipes that are in the way. They have to go somewhere else, which means digging up the street at a different location. Occasionally, roads have to be closed to let construction traffic through. Or roads may be inaccessible for a time, for safety reasons. In cases like this, diversions will be put in place for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. We make every effort to announce such developments in good time. In the immediate area, we do our best to help road users find the best alternative routes, by means of traffic signage.

From Friday, 24 April 2026 at 22.00 until Monday, 27 April at 05.00, the road connecting the A10 Zuid to the A10 West (in the direction of Leeuwarden/Zaanstad) will be closed. This could increase your journey time by up to 30 minutes.
10-13 April: major disruption on the A10 Zuid and at Amsterdam Zuid station

From Friday evening, 10 April 2026 at 22.00 until Monday morning, 13 April at 05.00, the A10 Zuid will be closed in both directions. The A4 in the direction of Amsterdam will also be closed. Additionally, on 11 and 12 April, there will be no train services at Amsterdam Zuid station.

In 2027, you will enter Amsterdam Zuid station via the new passenger tunnel, the Brittenpassage. The construction site beneath the A10 Zuid is visibly transforming into a passageway with plenty of daylight, an indoor bicycle parking facility and escalators. Take a look.
Weekend of 13-16 March: road connecting A10 Zuid – A10 West closed

From Friday, 13 March 2026 at 22.00 until Monday, 16 March at 05.00, the road connecting the A10 Zuid to the A10 West (in the direction of Leeuwarden/Zaanstad) will be closed. During this period, we will be working on a new fly-over and on the Schinkelbrug bridge.
No trains to or from Amsterdam Zuid station during the weekend of 28 February – 1 March

During the weekend of Saturday, 28 February and Sunday, 1 March 2026, there will be no train services to or from Amsterdam Zuid station. The station will remain accessible by metro. Please allow for some additional travel time and plan your journey in advance using the NS journey planner.
Spring holiday: work on tram 25 stop in Parnassusweg

From 16 February until 2 March 2026, work will be carried out on the temporary stop for trams 5 and 25 next to Parnassusweg. The work will include building a turning track to enable trams from Uithoorn to turn around. Various diversions will be in place.
16 February – 8 March: Amstelveenseweg viaduct disruption

From 16 February until 8 March 2026, we will be working next to the A10 viaduct across Amstelveenseweg on two construction gateways leading to our construction sites. The bus station will remain accessible but the main access to the metro station will be on the other side. There will be diversions in place for cyclists and pedestrians.
February: two weekends of road closures on the southern side of Amsterdam

During the weekends of 13–16 February and 20–23 February 2026, the A10 Zuid will be closed in the direction of the A1 Hengelo and A2 Utrecht, up to exit S108. From the A4 Schiphol, A9 Amstelveen and A10 West, additional travel time may increase by up to one hour.
Speed controls during work on A10 Zuid prove effective
From 23 to 25 January 2026, we partially closed the A10 Zuid to carry out work on the Schinkelbrug bridge. The police conducted speed controls to enable us to work safely. And it proved successful: only 30 vehicles exceeded the maximum speed of 70 km/h.
Weekend of 23-25 January: A4 closed in direction of A10 Zuid

From 22.00 on the evening of Friday, 23 January until 10.00 on the morning of Sunday, 25 January, the A4 from Schiphol and Amstelveen will be closed in the direction of the A10 Zuid. You can expect journey times to increase by 10–30 minutes.

The construction of the new bridge on the north side of the Schinkelbrug is certainly challenging. We are building across a lock and working just 20 cm away from the existing bridge at times. So, how are things progressing?
Plans for 35 shared transport hubs in Zuidas

Alongside Beethovenstraat next to Valley, we have set up a shared mobility hub. The intention is to make shared transport more attractive in Zuidas. There are plans to do this in several other places in Zuidas: we aim to have 20 shared hubs by 2026 and our long-term target is 35.
Amstel Verbindt construction consortium sets to work

The Amstel Verbindt (Amstel Connects) construction consortium can now commence work on the renewal of the Amstel junction, since the contract for the project has now been definitively awarded. However, it will be some time before the outside world sees any noticeable difference. Nevertheless, the preparations behind the scenes have started.

We have begun preparing the area around The CubeHouse for residential use. This will take until the end of February 2026. Cyclists and pedestrians are already being diverted in Parnassusweg because of the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station.
Serious disruption in Parnassusweg for cyclists and pedestrians
From 3 November 2025 until 4 April 2026, Parnassusweg will be almost completely closed to cyclists and pedestrians on the station side next to the viaduct. There will be no disruptions to cars or trams. We will be working on the extension of the railway platforms at Amsterdam Zuid station.

From 22.00 on Friday, 7 November until 05.00 on Monday, 10 November 2025, we will be working on the De Nieuwe Meer junction to widen the A10 Zuid and make it safer. Traffic in both directions can expect diversions and delays.

17-20 October: road closures on the south side of Amsterdam

From 17 to 20 October 2025, road users and railway passengers will face diversions and extra journey times. The A10 Zuid will be almost completely closed in the direction of Utrecht/Hengelo. On 18 and 19 October, there will be a reduced railway service via Amsterdam Zuid station.

On 30 September 2025, the very first Annemieke Goudsmit Incentive Trophy ('Annemieke Goudsmit Aanmoedigingstrofee') was awarded to Zuidasdok. Amsterdam Zuid station aims to be accessible to all, even during its regeneration process, which is lasting for years.
‘We’re building the A10 tunnel section by section'
Right in front of the entrance to Amsterdam Zuid station, we are diverting the A10 Zuid underground into a tunnel wide enough for six lanes. The area is now a pedestrian zone, in between the tracks and the office buildings. So, how will we ensure that the station remains accessible during the construction process?
1-12 September: Skûtsjespad closed from Amstelveenseweg

For the widening of the A10 Zuid, we are creating a new temporary entrance for construction traffic next to Amstelveenseweg. This will enable us to work more efficiently. In order to create this entrance to the construction site, we are closing Skûtsjespad in one direction for a 12-day period.
Amstelveenseweg now open again after five weeks

On 20 August 2025, Amstelveenseweg was reopened to traffic. During the long-lasting road closure, we completed work on supports for the two additional viaducts that are being built for the A10. The work ran smoothly, although it was touch-and-go at the end.
Temporary layout for area around PI59

In the period from 18 August until 26 September 2025, we will relandscaping Prinses Irenestraat in the area around the PI59 office building. We are reinstating the street paving and green areas. In a later phase, we will be introducing the permanent new layout.

Benjamin Brittenstraat is still quiet and calm. When the Brittenpassage opens at Amsterdam Zuid station in 2027 at the latest, that will certainly change. The same applies to Aaron Coplandstraat. We are planning to adjust the layout of the streets.
Work on temporary Parnassusweg tram stop starts on 19 July

Trams 5 and 25 are set to have a new temporary stop in Parnassusweg next to Amsterdam Zuid station. Amsterdam regional transport is starting the work on 19 July and there will be road closures as a result. The work will be completed by the morning of Monday, 25 August.

On the south side of Amsterdam, there were motorway closures lasting some 16 days. This caused significant traffic disruption in and around the city. We took advantage of every second to work on the regeneration of the A10 Zuid and Amsterdam Zuid station.

At 21.00 on Saturday, 12 July, the A4 and A10 Zuid will reopen after 16 days. These final days are set to be exceptionally busy on the south side of Amsterdam because the closure coincides with other events. And there’s more: from 12 July, the second Coentunnel will also be closing.
Sixteen days of closure, but hardly any reduction in traffic

Since 26 June 2025, there has been extreme congestion on the west and south side of Amsterdam. The closure of the A10 Zuid and Oost is set to last until 12 July. Traffic manager Niels van den Brink warns: expect plenty more disruption next week.

From the evening of Friday, 11 July (when the summer holidays start in Noord-Holland) until Wednesday, 20 August 2025 (the start of SAIL Amsterdam), Amstelveenseweg will be closed to motorised traffic underneath the A10 Zuid. For the first week, it will also be closed to cyclists and public transport.
Major disruption on Parnassusweg for two weeks, starting on 23 June

From Monday 23 June until the morning of Friday 4 July 2025, we will be hard at work on Parnassusweg. As part of the modernisation of Amsterdam Zuid station, we are making alterations to the two train viaducts. Motorised traffic in particular will be affected.

From 22.00 on 28 May until 05.00 on Monday, 2 June, we will be moving and lowering the road between the A10 Zuid and the10 West. This will then enable us to build a flyover to the A4 Schiphol/Rotterdam above it at a later stage. We will also be doing other work next to the A10 West.
Time for a greener Vivaldi as development continues

In the years ahead, we are making the Vivaldi neighbourhood, which includes EMA and the hotel Van der Valk Amsterdam Zuidas, greener and developing it further. In order to prepare the land in advance, we are carrying out a range of surveys in the period ahead. This may cause some disruption.
Ascension weekend: south side of Amsterdam faces major disruption

From 22.00 on Wednesday, 28 May until 05.00 on Monday, 2 June, there will be major works at the De Nieuwe Meer junction. The connecting roads from the A4 and A10 Zuid in the direction of the A10 West/Zaanstad will be closed during this period. Road users should allow up to one hour extra for their journey.
Making space for Ravel residential district set to cause disruption
Until the end of 2025, we will be working with utility companies to set up the underground cable and pipeline network for the new Ravel residential district. In early 2026, we will begin roadbuilding work on Maurice Ravellaan. This will cause disruption to traffic in Beethovenstraat and Ravellaan.
Upcoming works on A10 West and A. Fokkerweg

In the period from May until October 2025, we will be working on the A10 in the direction of Zaanstad on several occasions. This is necessary in order to move the S107 Henk Sneevlietweg exit to create space for a new carriageway for local traffic from the A10 Zuid.

Around Ascension weekend at the end of May, the A10 will be partially closed for four days. According to the Zuidasdok traffic manager Jaap Buitink, this follows months of preparation: ‘We already had this closure in our sights in June last year.’

From 12 July until 20 August 2025, we will be closing Amstelveenseweg to motorised traffic underneath the A10 Zuid. It is the first of three summers when we will be working on the viaduct as part of the widening of the A10 Zuid. The work is set to cause significant disruption.
A4 closed in direction of Amsterdam and Zaanstad for two weekends
From 14-17 March and from 21-24 March, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. The A4 will be closed to all traffic travelling in the direction of Amsterdam, between the Badhoevedorp and De Nieuwe Meer junctions. Please allow up to one hour extra for your journey.
Long-term disruption at Nieuwe Meersluis cycle path

From Monday, 17 February 2025 until 19 March 2027, the southern lock gate at the Nieuwe Meersluis lock will be closed to cyclists and pedestrians. This is because we are building a new Schinkelbrug bridge there. However, the northern lock crossing will remain in use.

The A10 Zuid is a notorious traffic bottleneck. We are working hard to make the road safer while also improving traffic flow. But these works are set to last for a while and also create additional traffic disruption, including at peak periods. Hence the advice: avoid rush hour.
New Maurice Ravellaan opens briefly

From Friday, 31 January, the new Maurice Ravellaan, alongside the AFC football club, has been opened for pedestrians, cyclists and cars. However, this will not last long – because we will be working on underground cables and pipelines again in May this year.
Daylight reaches extra passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station

A new milestone for Amsterdam Zuid station: after 11 days and nights of work, the additional passenger tunnel, the Brittenpassage, now has a glass ceiling. The railway platform above it, serving tracks 3 and 4, also has a floor partly made of walk-on glass.

At 21.00 on Friday, 31 January 2025, two weekends of work on the widening of the A10 Zuid are set to start. At the De Nieuwe Meer junction, there are plans for a new flyover in the direction of Schiphol/Rotterdam. We are now making preparations for that.
