When the Brittenpassage opens on 1 November 2026, we will close the existing passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station (the Minervapassage) for a major refurbishment. This means that the station entrance will move around 200 metres westwards for several years. Over the coming years, we will completely renovate, widen and raise the existing Minervapassage. But before that happens, we’re going to give the old, familiar passageway a proper send-off. So make sure you mark 1 November 2026 in your diary. We’re planning an unforgettable celebration, and we’d love you to be part of it.
From chess to unicycling
From 12.00 on 1 November 2026, there will be something to do for everyone in the Minervapassage. Why not try roller-skating along the old passageway floor? Don’t worry, we’ll provide the skates. Do you prefer freerunning or table tennis? You can do that too. At the entrance on Gustav Mahlerplein, we’ll all be working together on a life-size artwork, guided by professional artists from STRAAT Museum. Inside the passageway, there will be a chess tournament, with two chess masters ready to challenge beginners and experienced players alike. Keep an eye on our website to find out who these special guests will be. Of course, there will also be plenty to keep our youngest visitors entertained. They can take part in a LEGO workshop, for example, or learn to ride a unicycle with Circus Snor. Everyone is welcome!
