The viaduct in question is actually a bridge connecting the two buildings of Amsterdam UMC (VUmc location) on the northern and southern side of De Boelelaan to each other. Renovation work has recently been completed on this bridge and the scaffolding is being removed. In order to limit disruption to traffic, this will be done at night. The works will start on the evening of 2 October and are expected to last five nights. The northern carriageway, the northern cycle path and the northern footpath will all be closed between 22:00 in the evenings and 06:00 in the mornings. Car traffic, cyclists and pedestrians will be diverted. The southern side of De Boelelaan will remain accessible as normal.

Diversion

Car traffic will be diverted via Van der Boechorststraat and Van Nijenrodeweg. Two traffic controllers will be deployed to guide traffic on the road. Cyclists and pedestrians will be directed to the other side of the street. Public transport will be unaffected by the closure and the emergency services will be able to make use of the tram track. The work will be suspended when they are passing.

Repair work on footpath and cycle path

In the week of 9 October, repair work will start on the footpath and cycle path on the northern side of De Boelelaan, which will increase the width of the footpath. This will be done during the day and is expected to take 15 working days, when a diversion will be in place for cyclists and pedestrians. There will be no further disruption to the other traffic. If the removal of the scaffolding proves to be more complicated than predicted, the nights in the week starting 9 October have been earmarked for the additional work. In that event, the repair work on the footpath and cycle path will be delayed.
