The A10 Zuid will be closed in the direction of A4 Schiphol/Rotterdam from the Amstel junction up to and including the De Nieuwe Meer junction. The A10 will also be closed from the Watergraafsmeer junction in the direction of the A10 Zuid. In addition, the S111 access road to the A10 will be closed. The closures will start at 22.00 on the evening of Friday, 4 October and last until 05.00 on the morning of Monday, 7 October.
Disruption for cyclists and pedestrians
Cyclists and pedestrians will also face disruption as a result of the works. Jachthavenweg and Piet Kranenbergpad will be completely closed. In Amstelveenseweg, we are briefly closing the cycle lane and footpath for safety reasons. In Jaagpad, we will occasionally be halting traffic. These stops will last around five minutes. The stops will be in force at the point where the viaduct carries the A10 Zuid. There will be several stops each day.

What do we plan to do?
We are doing the same work as we did in the weekend of 20-23 September, but in the opposite direction this time. We will start by removing the existing sound barriers and replacing them with temporary ones. We are doing this on the section from the viaduct over Amstelveenseweg all the way to the Schinkelbrug bridge. They will be lifted out using cranes on the A10. We will then install temporary sheet piling next to the viaducts over Amstelveenseweg, Piet Kranenbergpad and the Schinkelbrug bridge (see the yellow circles on the map above).
Preparations for extra carriageways on A10 Zuid
The weekend closures of the A10 Zuid are necessary in order to enable the widening of the A10 Zuid. For traffic in both directions, there will be extra carriageways, each with two additional lanes intended for local traffic. From the De Nieuwe Meer junction, extra viaducts are needed over Amstelveenseweg and Piet Kranenbergpad, and extra bridges over the River Schinkel. We are currently making preparations for the construction of these bridges and viaducts. We are digging up the embankment on which the A10 Zuid is built. The sheet piling will ensure that the road remains stable in its position. The digging is required because we are building additional carriageways where the embankment currently is. This is the only way we can do this, because there is no space next to the embankment.
This will be the fifth weekend in 2024 that we are closing the A10 Zuid in one direction. There will be three more weekend closures: 29 November–2 December, 6 – 9 December and 13 –16 December.
Please note: closure of A9
The A9 will serve as a diversion route for our work. In the opposite direction, in the direction of Almere/Utrecht, the A9 will also be closed between Friday, 4 and Monday, 7 October.
