Ukrainian refugee accommodation ready in mid-2025

We are spending the month of December preparing the installation of new technical systems in Kapel & Convict. From January 2025, we will install electricity, lighting and (hot) water and ensure the accommodation meets fire-safety requirements. We will then build bedrooms, communal living rooms, laundry rooms and offices. We will also install kitchens and sanitary facilities. The renovation work is expected to take around six months until mid-2025.

Construction traffic  

The work will be done between 07.00 and 17.00 from Monday to Friday. In exceptional cases, there will also be work on Saturdays. We expect around 50 major deliveries of materials for the internal walls and flooring. In Beethovenstraat, the construction traffic will turn into Christiaan Neefestraat, next to the AkzoNobel Center, before crossing the Park Meadows construction site to reach Kapel & Convict.

Accommodation until March 2030 

For the first three years, the location will be available to accommodate around 100 refugees from Ukraine. Staff from Regenboog Groep will be on site every day to support and supervise residents. After this period, we will assess whether there is still a need for accommodation for Ukrainians or whether other refugees can be housed there instead. The location will be used as refugee accommodation until March 2030.
