The sites will not be used for tunnel construction work, but we will be storing materials there and setting up construction cabins. We also need space for logistics. The additional sites will be on land owned by the City of Amsterdam. It is willing to make them available to us for a specific period, under certain conditions.
Five sites already available
Several years ago, five work sites were reservedfor the construction of the A10 tunnel. This is stated in the Zuidas Route Decisian Tracébesluit Zuidasdok (in Dutch) that dates back to 2016. Two of them are located close to the De Nieuwe Meer junction (where the TriAX construction consortium already has sites for the reconstruction of this junction). The third is located in the Kenniskwartier district, between the Deloitte offices and The Pulse of Amsterdam building. The fourth site is on the edge of Beatrixpark. Finally, the fifth is located behind the courthouse in Parnassusweg.
Five additional sites
However, more sites will be needed for the realisation of the tunnel. All of them are located just outside the Zuidasdok route area, on land owned by the City of Amsterdam. We will need to apply for permits for these additional sites.
Which sites are involved exactly?
These are the five additional work sites that we wish to use (see the yellow numbers on the map below):
1. The temporary Cancer Center Amsterdam (CCA). After this has been demolished, there are plans for a construction access road here.
2. Behind the new courthouse in Parnassusweg. Part of this site is already inside the Zuidasdok route area, but we need a little extra space. There are plans for a construction cabin and materials to be stored here.
3. Alongside the AFC pitches. There are plans for a storage site and a vehicle storage area here.
4. The northern part of Vivaldistraat, where the EY headquarters are. There are plans for a construction cabin here.
5. The ‘Groene Zoom’, located behind the nhow Amsterdam RAI hotel. There are plans for a construction cabin and materials to be stored here.
Just to be clear: These are the additional work sites for the construction of the tunnel only. As already stated, the Route Decision already included some work sites. But there are also lots of other sites for other Zuidasdok projects (the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station and the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer and Amstel junctions).
Engaging with stakeholders
We have already been in discussions with stakeholders in the local area regarding the five additional work sites. To ensure that no one is inadvertently left out, we would like to get in touch with anyone who may have a stake. Stakeholder input could still lead to adjustments to our plans. These discussions will continue until the end of December 2025. If you believe you are a stakeholder but have not yet been contacted or scheduled for a discussion about these work sites, Please get in touch (Of course, the discussion can also take place after December).
