The project includes five charging points and a staff facility for GVB, located at the bus platform near the Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer offices. Construction was originally scheduled to start in early November 2025. Due to some remaining uncertainties, it was decided to postpone the project by one month so that the works could be carried out in one uninterrupted period and delays could be avoided.
Substructure successfully completed
In recent months, the work site has been set up and prepared. The presence of numerous underground cables and pipelines required additional precision. Excavation works were then carried out, followed by the installation of sheet piling, pile-driving works and the construction of the basement structure. All works were carried out within agreed limits for noise and vibrations, in order to minimise disruption to the surrounding area.
Heavy equipment
Working in a dynamic environment such as Zuidas requires constant attention to safety. Large construction equipment is used on site, including cranes of up to 50 tonnes, with safety as the top priority.
Structure taking shape
The coming period will focus on the construction above ground. Work will begin on the basement walls and foundation strips. The first outlines of the new staff building are expected to become visible towards the summer, after which the superstructure phase will follow. If everything proceeds according to schedule, the works will be completed in November 2026.
Cycle path closure remains in place
During the works, the Strawinskypad cycle path will remain partially closed between Parnassusweg and Amaliaplein. Cyclists will be diverted via Prinses Irenestraat.
