The work is part of a complete redesign of De Boelelaan Midden between Parnassusweg and Beethovenstraat. The project has two parts: rebuilding the main carriageway and redesigning the service road and green spaces. Work on the main carriageway will take place from 2 November until the end of May 2027. It will remain closed throughout this period, with diversions in place for cars and cyclists. The service road will remain accessible to local traffic. Preparatory work is already getting under way.
Working hours and disruption
We will be working from Monday to Friday, between 07.00 and 16.00. Construction vehicles will not operate during the morning rush hour, between 08.00 and 09.30, or the evening rush hour, between 16.30 and 18.00. De Boelelaan will remain closed outside working hours. Replacing the asphalt may cause noise, particularly at the start of the work. Other activities may also cause temporary noise disruption, including sewer replacement work by Waternet (see box below). Groundwater will need to be pumped out continuously to keep the work area dry.
Diversions
Drivers will be diverted southwards via Buitenveldertselaan (on the west side) and Van Leijenberghlaan (on the east side), towards Van Nijenrodeweg. The service road will remain accessible to cars. Please follow the signs. Cyclists travelling through the area will be diverted northwards via Mahlerlaan. Pedestrians will still be able to use the pavement along the service road, with a crossing over De Boelelaan near Lex van Deldenbrug. The car park in the VU Metropolitan building will remain accessible via the service road and Willem van Weldammelaan.
Additional closure: work on Asingaborg
Waternet will be carrying out sewer works on Asingaborg from 2 November until the end of January 2027. Parking spaces will be temporarily closed off during the work and reinstated afterwards. Pumps will run continuously to remove groundwater and keep the work area dry. Please be advised that this may cause noise disruption. During the work, local traffic will be able to reach the service road from Asingaborg via Groningenstraat.
Emergency services
Homes on De Boelelaan will remain accessible to emergency services at all times.
Waste containers
The underground waste containers will be out of use during the work. Residents can use the temporary above-ground containers on Groningenstraat instead.
Permits
Two traffic orders and a tree-felling permit are required for the work. The tree-felling permit was published on 16 September. Five trees will be removed and two relocated to make way for the new pedestrian crossings. Additional trees will be planted during the project to compensate for those removed. The traffic orders will be available through the municipality’s official public notices (in Dutch).
Share your views on the green spaces and service road
In early 2027, you will have another opportunity to share your views on the preliminary design for the green spaces and service road. This is later than we previously expected. We need more time to make sure that everyone’s interests are properly considered in the design. We will provide an update as soon as more information is available.
