Ryan, a student at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and winner of our online competition ‘Will your name be on the final pile?’, keeps a close eye on all Zuidasdok projects. ‘I’ve had a keen interest in construction projects ever since I was young. That’s why I closely follow all the developments in Zuidas. Earlier this year, I joined an interesting guided tour of the projects, and I often stop at Amsterdam Zuid station to watch the construction works while everyone else is rushing to catch their train.’

Widening the A10 Zuid

The pile was the last one needed for the pile mattress constructed by the TriAX consortium (Besix, Dura Vermeer and Heijmans) on the southern side of the A10 Zuid. Here, we are widening the A10 Zuid by adding two extra lanes for local traffic. These new lanes will be built on top of a ‘mattress’ consisting of piles, sand and geotextile (synthetic fabric).

De Nieuwe Meer junction

Following this milestone, work at the De Nieuwe Meer junction will continue at full pace. In addition to widening the A10 Zuid, we are also constructing the new flyover that will eventually connect the A10 Zuid with the A4 towards Schiphol.
