Green space between RAI and Wielingenstraat

The green strip in front of hall 5 was initially designed as part of a completely new design for the RAI’s logistics area. The traffic flows on the RAI site were also going to be routed differently. The RAI is completely redeveloping this site in order to limit the disruption for local people. However, because no commercial activities have taken place in the RAI in the past year, the RAI cannot carry out this redevelopment for the time being. In order to make the area look better all the same, we will be creating a strip of green space between the RAI and Wielingenstraat. The purpose of this strip is to create an attractive green transition zone.

Your opinion

The new green strip will flank the existing cycle path on the south side of Wielingenstraat. The existing row of trees will be supplemented with four more plane trees as well as shrubs, plants, and grasses. A natural stone border will separate the footpath from the green space. An artist’s impression of the green space was presented to local residents a few years ago during a residents’ meeting in the RAI. Because this was some time ago, we are inviting you to share your opinion on the design for the green space below this article. We will also be holding a telephone consultation hour on 24 March. Between 15.00 and 17.00, you will be able to call us with your questions and opinions on 0800 – 5065. Where possible, we will adapt the design to accommodate your comments and suggestions.
