We are replacing the drinking water pipeline underneath the footpath in front of the church and creating a new connection to the drains. The work will start on Monday 23 October and last until Friday, 10 November at the latest. In order to enable the work to happen, part of the footpath alongside the church will have to be dug up. Pedestrians will still be able to walk past the work. Of course, it will also still be possible to access the church itself. For people living in the immediate vicinity, the work will be audible at times, but we do not expect any severe disruption.

Community function

When the work on the pipeline has been completed, we will begin relandscaping the area immediately in front of Thomaskerk. This will make it more accessible, increasing its community function. We will be adding new planting and there will also be seating. The work will take place on working days between 07.00 and 19.00 and will not cause excessive disruption. It will still be possible to access the church during the work. Pedestrians will be able to use a narrowed pavement alongside the Thomaskerk. We expect the new landscaping to be completed before the Christmas holiday.
