Traffic lights at Europaplein junction to be replaced

Between 20 and 26 July 2024, the City of Amsterdam is replacing the traffic lights at the junction between Europaplein and President Kennedylaan. These have become outdated. Traffic controllers will guide the traffic during the works.

Where?

In addition to the old traffic lights, the City of Amsterdam is also replacing all the buttons and speakers. The masts are also being repainted. The works coincide with maintenance work on Europaboulevard, where the City of Amsterdam is resurfacing large parts of the road between May and the end of August 2024.

Disruption

This work will not cause major traffic disruption (there is no need to close the entire carriageway), but it will add to the congestion already being caused by diversions as a result of the work on Europaboulevard. The City of Amsterdam hopes to keep disruption to a minimum by carrying out the work at the weekend and during the first week of the summer holiday. While being replaced, the traffic lights will be deactivated and traffic controllers will be deployed (including at night). The standard working hours will be between 07.00 and 16.00.
